There's a rather lengthy post about the selection of Sanchez on FB (for a social medium she has such disdain for, it seems like lately there a lot of posts under Dani's name :roll: ), and she seems quite pleased and has already spent time practicing with him in Spain. You guys are the coach experts around here.....good, bad, or indifferent? (in other words, is this a good Friday for Daniela Maniacs, or is a black Friday!?)

He's an excellent coach. Took Jankovic to no. 1,and more pertinently,revitalised an ageing Petrova to an excellent season in 2012. Just recently,he took Verdasco to the WTF doubles championship,I am very surprised that Daniela was able to lure him away-no doubt this is what all that negotiating was that she talked about when her calender was released.

A word of caution though-he attracts controversy like the flame attracts moths. He's on record as calling Sam Stosur "a fucking bitch",and has repeatedly mouthed off about top players. Furthermore,he has had many bad break-ups with players-Petrova,Wozniacki and Lisicki to name but a few. There will not be a dull moment........... :shock:

I'm very happy to announce that i have started working with Ricardo Sanchez. We have known each other for years so the transition has been very natural. I'm looking forward to all the hard work and excited about the work we have already done last week in Spain! More pix from training soon :-)) xx

After reading your comments, Benji, plus Daniela's saying it's a natural transition and how long she's known Sanchez, I have to assume she knows all about his volatility and is willing to endure it. It says that a highly respected coach sees Daniela as capable of another run to top 20, even top 10. And it tells me that Dani is All In going for a great season. I'm Soooooooooooooooo excited!!

Daniela's got a good coach. Sanchez has a fairly hard-nosed personality and a lot of his coaching tenures haven't lasted a long time at the same time Daniela's changed coach every year since 2008 so I don't think that whoever's going to be her coach for 2014 is going to be there for years and years, but we'll see what happens. It seems like Daniela took the time to get a good coach and she knows Sanchez plus she's someone that can get along with anyone. Daniela's teamed up with a good coach, who's been successful with a lot of other players and she can be successful with Sanchez.

Notice how everyone in the photo is smiling apart from Sanchez.

It's an interesting choice as Sanchez is known to be volatile but maybe will make Daniela more ruthless on court.

It could all go tits up but I think this is the last roll of the dice for Daniela, so she really hasn't got anything to lose.

I always feel that Australia is Daniela's best chance to win tournaments so I hope this year she can deliver.

Ever since Daniela's total trashing of FB and all who use it, posts under her name on her FB page have risen notably, and in the last 2-3 days it's become a flood of posts! Can't figure this out. I guess the only way to know for sure if it's her or not is for Dani to send me a personal FB message. (And I'm know exactly when that will happen. Next February 31st! Then again, 6 months ago, I would not have thought I'd have a signed T-Shirt. Dream On!)
