We'll just see how Daniela does here. It would be great if she was seeded but she isn't so hopefully she avoids the really top players in the first round. A lot will depend on how Daniela plays, if she plays like she did against Bencic or Vinci then she can do well, but if she plays like she did against Date-Krumm or Davis then it's going to be tough. Hopefully Daniela's fit and focused and she's able to play good tennis. She doesn't have anything to defend so any wins she gets will gain her points and boost her ranking.

That's a very tough opener for Daniela. Bouchard's in very good form right now and outside of the elite players she is one of the toughest opponents for Daniela. The winner of that plays Soler-Espinosa or Govortsova - either of them would have been a great opener - and Petkovic is the seed for the third round. Serena Williams would be the fourth round opponent then Shazza in the quarters. A nice easy route to the semis for Daniela.

The match is going to be on Tuesday as the defending Women's champion always starts on Tuesday. Lisicki is standing in for Bartoli in that capacity as last year's runner-up and she's in Daniela's half of the draw.

Sorry for my bad language but that's a fucking brutal draw. At least she'll be on a show court so she might be up for it than an outside court.

2nd round opponents are relatively soft but to have to beat Bouchard, Govortsova/Soler, Petkovic, Serena and Sharapova just to make semis is INSANE.

Daniela's got to treat the Bouchard match like a final.

Only silver lining is that Bouchard lost to Vania King in Netherlands last week on grass in the first round so won't be brimming with too much confidence.

I seriously can't beliece how shit this draw is. Maybe Daniela will start trying harder in regular events such as Eastbourne 2nd round in future to avoid this in the future. It shows how important the regular tour is.. sigh...

Anyway Daniela must take one match at a time and try and not get too dispondant if she gets off to a bad start. Bouchard will be nervous and this is their first meeting so will be intriguing. My feeling is that if Bouchard is on it serving and moving well Daniela is going to struggle.

Daniela's playing doubles with Lucic-Baroni and they start against Konta & Moore from Britain. The winner plays Begu/Knapp or Vesnina/Makarova.

Que Sera Sera, guys. Should Daniela play like she did in the first round the last two weeks, she can beat Dale Carnegie Bouchard. ;)

Let's Go, Daniela!

I'm glad Daniela's on a really big court, although not so stoked that she'll be at the end of the day. Hopefully the matches before her will go quickly.

Hopefully Daniela can give Bouchard a grass court masterclass tomorrow. Daniela can definitely do it, she needs to believe and get off to a good start by serving and returning well.

Daniela should unleash her inner Jerry Sadowitz on Bouchard, or maybe not considering how his gig in Montreal ended.

Daniela should just play better tennis and win the last point.

oh, Daniela... same old story. So much potential wasted, too many UE at important moments. I do not have high hopes for the coming set.
Hopefully she completely proves me wrong.

Urgh Daniela gave it everything. She looked devastated after the match.

I think this loss is going to hurt for a long time.

To be 5-3 up and then then lose the next four games in the first set
Was a break up 3-2 in the 2nd
Had break point 5-5 and 2nd serve on Bouchard's serve in the 2nd
Was 40-0 5-6 to lose 6 points in a row and lose the match

If she had just turned around one of those from the list above the match would have been totally different.

I think this could be the end of Daniela as she is working so hard for no reward at the moment.

That was one mother-fucking awful draw for Daniela and Bouchard really has such an ugly game.

This is so disappointing. Daniela played really well and some of her shots were exquisite but she came up short. Credit to Bouchard who did play some good tennis, especially to break Daniela in the last game. Daniela had her chances she was up 5-3 in the first set and was 5-4 deuce. Bouchard was a bit flat in the first set and Daniela was the better player in that set but Bouchard won it. Bouchard did look flat and jaded at the start of the match and if Daniela had won the first set, I really think that she'd have won the match but she dropped the first set and that let Bouchard off the hook.
Bouchard played a lot better in the second and hit more winners and made fewer errors but Daniela was still up a break at 3-2 but got broken back in the next game, she had a BP on a second serve at 5-5 in the second and she was 40-0 up at 5-6 but Bouchard broke her for the match although Bouchard did hit some good winners in that game. Daniela brought the skill but Bouchard brought the power.

I feel that Daniela performance and level of play would have beaten an awful lot of players but she got the best young player. It shows the importance of getting a seeding and avoiding early matches against the top players. Daniela really has to do well and gets wins in the hardcourt season before the US Open.

Daniela still has the doubles to play and we'll see if she's in the mixed so hopefully she can have a good run there.
