haha, can't wait for the season and especially AO to begin...
this cold and dark winter months here in Europe suck, and seeing the heat of Australia on TV warms at least the tennis fan's heart :D

I think Daniela won't be seeded in Brisbane as she is the 9th highest ranked player on the list...

BUT

Very excited for this year and what her new partnership with the Slovak Fed Cup Captain will be like. Also she's apparently changed rackets from Prince to Volkl...?! Lots of changes this year. Would be great to see her in the top 20 again by the clay season.

Hantuchova missed a tournament in Brisbane
28.12.2010 17:26, Tennis, Talk (0)

Slovak tennis player Daniela Hantuchova for the injury probably will not be able to start at the WTA tournament in Melbourne, Australia (January 2 to 8) and the season kicks off in Sydney.

"Daniela was injured during training. It's not definite yet, but given the circumstances is most likely in Brisbane does not. If all goes well, the season begins in Sydney. An injury would not jeopardize its start to the season opening Grand Slam tournament, Australian Open," Hantuchova said personal trainer Matt Liptak.

@ google translation.

This sucks but it's a lot more important that Daniela's fit for the Australian Open. It's a concern that she's picking up injuries and she doesn't seem to be able to shake them off. Daniela's had problems with her back since the end of 2009 and her shoulder's been bothering her since April and she said that she was getting treatment for it during the off-season. Now she's got a problem with her calf and achilles tendon. It's best that she just heals and gets healthy because if she's fit then she can play great tennis like she did at the start of last season, but if she's hurt then it's difficult for her like it was at the end of the season.

Get well and stay strong Daniela.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

It's a pretty disappointing start to the season, but it'd be worse to see Daniela play on and play badly.

Hopefully she's fresh and ready come the AO... the one tournament i've actually got the opportunity to see her play in!

Get well soon, Dani

Oh, wow, Im worried that daniela has been picking up injuries easily in the last couple of years. The worst part is that she doesn't seem to get rid of them easily.

I hope she fully recovers before going up to the courts.

Get well, danka!

I dont think this injury is 100% true?? There is nothing on the brisbane site or in the newspaper (which would usually say about injured people who can't play in aussie tournaments) to suggest she is injured and not playing brisbane.
She is still in the acceptance list and all I can see that is evidence is SITA. Which may not be accurate since she is in Australia. There are no articles, so I dont believe it!!!

Also will Dani have to play qualies at sydney???

I'd be very surprised if it's not true. I guess we'll have to wait and see when the draw comes out, but don't get your hopes up as the tournament are unlikely to announce it for fear of less people coming to watch as Daniela was on the main Brisbane advert video.
