Eek. Definitely not a very friendly draw. I like Daniela's chances against Anna in round one, but with Caroline and Petra looming in rounds 2 and 3 respectively, Dubai isn't going to be very fun. But at the same time, it's probably the best time for Dani to have a tough draw. She's playing well and is confident. If ever there was a time to take some big scalps...

I couldn't agree more BMC. Tough draw but might be a good time to get it. The win in Pataya was great because rather than letting someone else clear the way for her to a Championship, Daniela cleared her own way by taking out the favorite. Great win and now we will see what happens next. Love that girl!!

I agree with you to aswell  now is hte time to take some big scalps and I believe if she plays her best tennis she could out power caro.... lets all take one match at a time. Chakkers?? BAD form... dani will probably win this in 2 easy sets. But lets hope chaks vet doesn't get inspired by dani's great form!

I do honestly think that Kvitova is more dangerous to Daniela than Caro because she is so ferocious and gets them in all the time. No offence but Petra looks slightly dumb, like not much up there. :topsecret: :wall:   Anyway Petra has two tough matches. 1st Morita, 2nd Mirza. Both in recent good form. Morita can be dangerous on a good day and Sania will be a tough test with that forehand but we will see. :tennis2:

I suppose the first round is to see what would have happened if Daniela had been able to play in Brisbane. If Daniela plays anything like she did in Pattaya then she should beat Chakvetadze fairly easily. Daniela's done a lot of playing and travelling recently from Slovakia to Thailand and now to the Middle East so there may be a bit of tiredness and/or a letdown after winning a tournament. A lot will depend on how fit and focused Daniela is.

Wozniacki hasn't been playing that well so far this year as she didn't play well in the Asian exhibitions and she got beaten by Dominika Cibulkova in Sydney and Wozniacki didn't convince at the Australian Open as Cibulkova made errors, Schiavone was exhausted and the semi-final was determined by Li Na's level as when once Li Na cut down the errors she dictated the match. At the same time Wozniacki is a top player and she'll be rested.

Kvitova's is playing incredibly well right now so she'd be a very difficult opponent but Daniela has to win a couple of matches first and she has to focus on Chakvetadze.

You really want Daniela to maintain the momentum she has from Pattaya but hey, she's just won a tournament so she may still be enjoying that. I'm still enjoying it.

good luck Daniela!

i don´t mind if Daniela will lose in early rounds, she must be very tired and I don´t care about Dubai actually, Doha is more important.

I wouldn't be opposed to a withdrawal here. Daniela has been injured and all...

Good luck Daniela!

She had a great last week. Now, some more wins would be a bonus. But I don't expect anything. We well see...

exactly although dani if she has a deep run could win a bag of points. Are these points to defend since 2008?

OMG wasn't pattaya semi-final hilarious with Vera and that Chinese umpire (who dani fans do not like thanks to brisbane 2010! also she was umpire on dani's first round when i was at ao 2010 she did it again! After that she when dani was 4-1 down thanks to the call she won that   ) Anyways.... this clip was up on youtube just in case Dani fans got confused with the score (I know I did!) and us fans got stressed with dani for not winning quickly.

Enjoy now watch it all! turn it up and just laugh, cause it is hilarious espescially when the supervisor comes out and talks to the umpire and the umpire says: "she looked at me and just said f@$%" (who would say that? she is just as bad if vera said that, which i doubt she did!)
Make sure you have it up loud because the score is wrong on the board. Dani was given this win
