Schiavone's ranked 23 and even though she came through qualifying she's really main draw standard. Daniela could have had someone easier from qualifying but she hasn't, so she just has to go out and beat Schiavone. This is going to be a good guide to Daniela's level as Schiavone normally beats modest and bad players, but generally loses to good players. Schiavone is someone Daniela has to beat to stay in the top 20 and get back into the top 10. Daniela didn't play well in Tokyo but showed improvement in Beijing and hopefully the trend is upward. I feel Daniela's level of play will determine the match as she should win if she plays well, but if she plays badly, then it's going to be very difficult and Schiavone will take advantage of mistakes.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

This smells badly like another early first round exit.

I hope this season is over soon.

just found out on youtube. It was a bit of the match between Daniela and Franzi in Tokyo. Daniela can hardly hit the ball three times without making an UE :roll:

. I think that was the match where she killed herself more than Franzi overplayed her.

woohoo!!! way to go daniela. never in doubt. never faced a bp too! well done!!!!!
what i loved from watching the scoreline was that for the most part, when daniela got to 40 in a game, she was able to capitalise on the game and break points, and not let schiavone get to deuce.

the stats are impressive, but was anyone able to watch the match and comment on how she played?
so pleased with this result. a good win in a while! and highest win (ranking wise) this season, yes???

Who would expect such an easy victory ?
This game is a very good example that everything
may change from week to week and from
tournament to tournament...
Schiavone thrashed Dani at Tokyo a few weeks
ago and got thrashed by her today...
Can the same thing happen against Zvonareva ?
Hmmm, imo she is much better player than Schiavone,
she is in good form ( in Stuttgart lost 7-6 7-6
to Jankovic ) and beat Kirilenko rather easily
(6-4 6-4). Of course this is all theory,
Dani must feel very confident right now.
I think she has her chances.

Great win by Daniela. The stats are impressive and she controlled the match, took her chances, maintained her level and never gave Schiavone any chances. It shows Daniela's level of play is improving as she played poorly against Schiavone in Tokyo but Daniela dominated her here and she also played well in Beijing. It's an important win for her ranking and confidence so she can take a lot from this. The manner of this win is encouraging as Daniela beat Schiavone by the score that a top player would.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

What's impressive about this win is that she won above 70% points on 1st serve AND 2nd serve!!!!
