Daniela & Arantxa open against Safarova and Anastasia Alphabet.
Since this has not been Dani's best season, and with the first round matchups in Montreal not looking promising, I'm trying something at my house to help her. If it works, I will let you in on it.

Daniela's practising with Hingis again today on Court 7 from 11am to 12:30pm. Hingis is also practising with Parra Santonja later on. We know who to blame if things go wrong.

I see that Swiss Miss is not playing with Lisicki anymore. Sabine must have had a picture of Hingis in her mind when she hit that record setting serve!
Oh, and don't worry. I hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth throughout the Forum over how Kerber blew a big lead yesterday.

Sacre Bleu! Daniela is the second match up on the National Bank court after Petkovic/Giorgi, which begins soon after 12 noon Montreal time. Then, after what they call Apres Repos (suitable rest……geez, it's a lot simpler when they play this in Toronto), Dani and Arantxa play in the fourth and last match on Court 9.

1st game Daniela serving and last 15 minutes..Daniela is broken after about 5 gps and 5bps, playing completely into Wozniacki's hands.
0-2 Woziacki holds to 30
Every time Daniela is up in the point she makes an error, most frustrating...and a serious mental block
Wozniacki seriously not missing a ball
0-3 Daniela can't win important points
Wozniacki playing unbelievably
0-4 Wozniacki holds to 15, I can't watch this anymore
0-5 Daniela has a new coach, don't know who it is..seems young..

53 minutes to lose 6-1, that's the best set I've ever seen Daniela play to only win one game...Wozniacki is unstoppable when Caro is in this mood...it seems everyone plays their best against Daniela, must be the way Daniela's ball flies in the air...

I am so sad for Daniela, she was so positive and excited before the match when they were doing the coin toss, she IS playing well but Wozniacki is just playing perfect.

Daniela impatient now and that was a very poor game..1-6 1-4

1-6 1-6 Just lost patience with the match and also the court (2 weird bounces happened that meant the court was not laid very well)

FUCKING NIGHTMARE

All you can say about the match is that Caroline played very well and deserved the victory. Her BH was just oozing quality throughout. :|

Having been only able to follow by phone, please let me know if Daniela appeared to be injured. There was about 40 minutes between the end of the previous match and the start of hers. Then it seemed to be 0-2 in the first forever. Put that together with the result and it seems reasonable to wonder about injury. Kind of waiting to see if she plays the doubles or not.
It's 7:48 PM as I edit this. 20 minutes ago, checking live scores showed that the doubles had not begun, nor did it say canceled or moved to tomorrow. Now I look again, and it says Daniela and Arantxa lost 4-6, 6-7. WTF!? This has become one of the most frustrating days in my years cheering for Dani. :x

Ugh. I was sick yesterday so missed the match and finding out this result has given me a relapse, it'll be a lot worse for Daniela. It seems like so many players have played their very best tennis against Daniela this year and this is the latest example. It seems like the first game which went on so long was critical, if Daniela had won it then things could have been different but she didn't and it seemed to give Wozniacki a surge of confidence which she rode throughout the match.

Thanks for the match report, eddy, it couldn't have been an easy one to do.

Alex- Daniela wasn't injured and she was hitting the ball great. Her first serve was a bit off but when her first serve went in she often won the point. Wozniacki just ground Daniela down but was super solid on serve and was hitter the ball harder and flatter than in previous years.

Thank you, eddy; that's a worry off my mind. And I certainly believe you about Daniela playing well. Here's how that concerns me: It was reported that she played well against Sharapova earlier in the year. Throughout most of her career, when healthy, Daniela playing well against a top opponent led to a victory or at least a very competitive defeat. In the two matches I'm referring to, her playing well led to defeats by a combined games total of 24-3. Is this how far Daniela's level of good play is behind the good play of the top players? That is an extremely scary thought. Or was it two isolated incidents of Sharapova and Wozniacki happening to be at the very top of their game? I'd rather believe that, but it would be nice for Dani to put it all together the next time she faces one of the best and win, and until then, I'm leery.
