Be aware: Today's Aviators home match begins 2 hours earlier than normal. 5:00PM San Diego time rather than the usual 7:00.

Good heavens, this Devverman sucks! Embarrassed by Russell again, 5-1. He is so expert at putting his team in a hole that he should consider taking up golf. That's the deficit Daniela and Kveta have been handed.
Doubles: Which they partially closed. 5-3 Dani and Kveta over Gorvotsova/Abigail Spears. (Both Spears and Kops-Jones are with Springfield, but did not appear together in either match with the Aviators. Ergo, Daniela got to face and beat each one of them. Cool.) Daniela held both times, doing so in the exact opposite way as she's been going recently. A mere 5-12 1st serves in, winning just 2 points. But, 6-7 on 2nd serve, with the only lost point being her 1 DF.
No aces. Oddly, Kveta went 5-5 on 2nd serve! Daniela and Kveta are now 10-2. Springfield leads, 8-6. Mike Bryan makes his debut with Kveta in mixed next. They won 5-4, so Springfield has a 12-11 lead at the break. If San Diego wins, they would only need to win either Tuesday or Wednesday to win their division. If Springfield wins, the teams are tied for first place. So Daniela has lots of incentive besides simply getting even with Gorvotsova for the other night.

Let's Go, Daniela!

Singles: Another defeat avenged! 5-3 for our gal! A strange match it was. On serve at 1 all, Gorvotsova won the first three points. Daniela came all the way back for the break, triggering a 9 pt. run and a 3-1 lead. Olga took a 3-1 lead in the fifth game, and again Daniela fought back for another break and a 4-1 lead. Dani won the next three points, giving her 4 set points. Olga won them all :( ,then held to 4-3. Again Dani took a 3-0 lead, gaining 4 more set points in something of a do-over. Following the advice of Gerry Rafferty's "If You Get It Wrong You'll Get It Right Next Time", Daniela won the next point and the match. Finally she reaches the .500 level in singles at 6-6……may she do the same when she gets back on tour! :) San Diego leads 16-15. Not closing Olga out on the first try could hurt the Aviators, but that's what the Bryan brothers are here for!

Look out, Washington Kastles! Bryan brothers blast overmatched Hutchins/Russell 5-0. San Diego can keep them in the anchor position, as it is very likely that they will be at home for all remaining matches. Should Daniela and Kveta help get the match to them with a lead or a good chance to overcome one the Aviators could well be WTT champs. Final score: San Diego 21, Springfield 15.

Let's Go, Daniela!

Yet another good win by Daniela & the Aviators to clinch the top seeding in the Western Conference. Daniela comes through again, getting revenge on Govortsova and getting another win in doubles with Peschke. San Diego will be at home for the rest of their matches in WTT which is great as it means that there's no more travelling for Daniela.

Once again Alex, thanks for the report.

Matches Back or Matches Behind. It's used in American sports to show how far behind the top team the rest of the teams are, San Diego have 8 wins out of 12, Springfield 6 out of 12 so Springfield are 2 behind San Diego.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

 Hey, hey! WTT Western Division Champeens!
MB? Seriously? :haha: In all the other team sports here in the US, it's GB, games back. Guess this is a nod to the snootiness of those that run the sport of tennis. :ugeek:

Daniela starts play with San Diego up 5-2. Live stream on ESPN3, and live coverage on the Tennis Channel.
Doubles: I learned right away that, amongst all the other things different in WTT, there's no such thing as a let. On the first point of the set, Dani faulted, then doinked the second serve flush off the net cord, flopping down so it couldn't be returned. When you look at the doubles stats, guys, that's Daniela's 1 ace!
Rare loss for Dani/Kveta, 5-2, to Jurak/Anabel. Daniela's service games got the only 2 points for the Aviators. Kveta was brutal on serve, 3 DF's. I don't know who the color commentator is, but she repeatedly said that Kveta's serve problems were Daniela's fault! Dani is so unaggressive at net, she said, that Kveta feels like she has to cover 3/4 of the court and she couldn't concentrate on her serves. I see. If Dani weren't such an awful player at net when her partner serves, she might be a wee bit better than 10-3 with Kveta, and just a slim chance that she'd have more than 9 doubles titles, and maybe, just maybe, she'd have a double or triple Grand Slam in mixed. This is why I normally watch Dani with the sound off. (To be fair, the commentator effusively praised our gal as the hardest working player she'd ever seen, practice and gym. She's an ex-player who says she's faced Dani many times. I'll track her down.) Match tied 7 all.

Let's Go, Daniela!

Daniela faces off with Anabel with San Diego ahead 12-10, as Kveta redeemed herself with Mike Bryan in mixed.
Singles: Daniela rings up Anabel! 5-1, complete dominance. Lots of 1st serves in leading to points, and the exquisite backhand was dynamite! Down the line, cross-court, winners galore. For the first time, Dani has a winning singles record at 7-6. Interesting...she passed Anabel and is 2nd in WTT in singles in terms of games won/lost. Gotta love it. San Diego up 17-11 with the Bryans closing things out. (I was thinking that the Avaitors might be the favorite to win the title, but in an interview during intermission, the Bryans said they're entered in next week's tourney in Washington and were leaving after tonight. :( )
Final score: San Diego 22, Texas 13.
How about this: Daniela is a leading candidate for WTT Rookie of the Year!
Some stats: Singles tonight……Dani 11-17 1st serves in (65%), 9-11 pts. won. (Anabel was 19-21 1st serves in, but Daniela won 9-19 of those.) 3-6 2nd serve points, and she converted both of Anabel's 2nd serves. 1DF, no aces, 3-4 on 3-all points.
Doubles tonight……7-8 1st serves in, won both service games to 0. Officially, she was not credited with that ace I described.
Singles on Sunday vs. Olga……14-20 1st in (70%), 11-14 pts. won, 4-6 on 2nd serve. 1 ace, no DF'S.
Let me know if I have somehow missed this all these years, but I'm seeing Daniela pumping her fist before key points a number of times lately.

Let's Go, Daniela!

I think it was Renee Stubbs doing the commentary. I think she respects Daniela a lot as a singles player but I don't think so as a doubles player. In one of the crap highlights from the first tie Renee says "even Daniela Hantuchova" was helping out in the doubles"....she can be a typical blunt aussie. However she always seema to say that Daniela is a top class singles player.

Another good win by the Aviators and Daniela crushed Medina Garrigues in singles. It's a pity that Daniela & Peschke didn't win the doubles but you can't complain too much about a 22-13 win.

Thanks for the live report, Alex.

I once said about Rennae Stubbs that there's no such thing as an ugly woman, just a lack of alcohol, but with Rennae Stubbs you need a brewery. Having said that, Stubbs is infinitely superior to Nigel Sears. Whenever that cunt commentates on Daniela all he does is bitch about how crap she is. If he's going to blame anyone for ending his coaching career he should blame Ivanovic because she had the exact same problems under Sears that Daniela did.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

 :haha:
My wife watched the doubles with me. Her observation was that outside of Daniela and a few others, all women tennis players are ugly as sin!

To quote the Beatles...I don't know, she wouldn't say! In all honesty, my wife is a saint, but she is not a sports fan at all. She roots for Dani to support me. If I showed her a bunch of pictures of other WTA glamour girls, she'd opine how she thinks they look, but my oldest daughter is getting married on Saturday, so there's no time for that.
