Here in New York the doubles began just before midnight. As Dani and Raymond made their comeback, I said to myself that with her match today starting in late afternoon, she needs to be off the court by 1AM my time (10 PM in California). So when was match point won? 1AM/10PM!! Isn't Daniela remarkable?

In following on Livescorehunter, when I first checked, one game had been played. 6 minutes later, it had Daniela and Raymond losing a 1st set tiebreaker! Who says Dani takes too much time out there?

Let's Go, Daniela!

A good win in the doubles and it's fantastic that Daniela played well and made a lot of great shots to win the big points. Hopefully she rested and refreshed for her match today. Thanks for the livescores, Patti.

Daniela's the third match on Stadium court, play starts at 12 noon.

As I don't know if Patti went to sleep or not, here it goes the TB of the 1st set.
Daniela to serve
0-1(df#5), 1-1 (Ula asks challenge complaining Daniela's ball was out, but it was in), 1-2, 1-3, 1-4 (constructs well the point and then UE. Haven't put a single 1st serve in the TB), 2-4, 2-5, 3-5 (finally a 1st serve), 3-6 (UE number 2187546573438),

FIRST SET RADWANSKA 7-6(3).

1ST SET:

Daniela did 26UE to 15Winners. Radwanska 13-10.

2nd set, Radwanska to serve:

0-15, 15-15, 15-30, 30-30, BP, GAME DANIELA 1-0
15-0, 15-15, 15-30, 15-40, GAME RADWANSKA 1-1 (sends a smash to the net, she was facing the sun)
15-0, 30-0 (lob that Daniela thinks is gonna be out), 40-0 (yet, another silly UE), GAME RADWANSKA with UE number 30!, 1-2
15-0, 30-0, 40-0, GAME DANIELA, BEAUTIFUL GAME, 2-2
15-0, 15-15, 15-30, 30-30, 30-40 (Radwanska, again, convinced the ball of Dani is out, asks challenge and the ball is good), DEUCE, GP, GAME RADWANSKA, 2-3
15-0, 30-0, 30-15, 40-15, GAME DANIELA, 3-3 (with a very nice dropshot. she's doing very well in that department, but it's all)
15-0, 15-15 (24 winners to Dani, 12 Radwanska), 15-30(DF#1), 30-30, 30-40, GAME DANIELA, 4-3. - Superb groundstrokes and power displayed in this game.
0-15, 0-30, 0-40, 15-40, 30-40, GAME RADWANSKA with a UE from Daniela. 4-4 :(
15-0, 30-0, 40-0, GAME RADWANSKA, 4-5
15-0, 30-0, 40-0, GAME DANIELA, 5-5
15-0, 30-0, 40-0, GAME RADWANSKA, 5-6 (a game filled, again, with UE from Dani)
15-0, 30-0, 40-0, 40-15, 40-30, GAME DANIELA, 6-6

TIE BREAK
1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 3-4, 3-5, 3-6,

GAME, SET, MATCH URSZULA RADWANSKA 7-6 (3), 7-6(3)

40 UE to 18 of Radwanksa. That explain all the shit that she did on this game. I have no other words to describe this match, unless to say that she left the court in like 15 seconds.

This is such a frustrating and disappointing loss. It really is a missed opportunity as Daniela threw it away through her errors and her inconsistent serving. She was a break up in both sets - twice in the second - but she lost her momentum and lost them both in tiebreaks. Daniela played poorly in both the tiebreaks and gave the match away because of her errors. She was 3-0 up in the second set tiebreak and had played well to get there but from then on she made a lot of errors and lost the next 7 points. Credit to Radwanska, she raised her level when she needed to, she was able to put more depth on the ball from the middle of the first set and take a bit of time from Daniela plus she was retrieving and counterpunching well. It is frustrating for I really feel that this is a match that Daniela lost far more than Radwanska won. Radwanska was solid and consistent but Daniela's best was better than her best but Daniela also played worse.

A crucial game was the seventh game of the first set when Daniela was 4-2 up and serving and she twice had a game point but she lost one on a double fault and ended up getting broken. She hardly got in any first serves that game. I'm sure if Daniela had held that game she'd have won the set and almost certainly the match. She continued her tiebreak woe of the past year. Daniela went 4-1 in tiebreaks in Birmingham and won the tournament, she's not won a tiebreak anywhere else this year. Serving and tiebreaks were Daniela's achilles' heel here and her ball toss was all over the place and her serving was erratic as a result.
We'll see what Daniela can do in the doubles here and she's got Carlsbad to look forward. Hopefully Alex's able to inspire Daniela.

Thanks for the livescores, Patti & Artur.

   WHAT!? Good gosh, if she knows I'm coming, she won't be within a hundred miles of Carlsbad!!
Today was a rough one for sure. Daniela had every chance, and was a cinch to get back into the top 40 with a win. She will quickly put it behind her, and just might get doubles title #10 before she gets to play with Hingis.
If all goes well, my wife and I will be on a plane to San Diego tomorrow. Not sure if I will go to the doubles because it might be a circus with the fans and media, and I have not ever seen Dani play singles. Guys, yeah I will be happy if she wins whatever match we go to. But what I really want more than anything is that my wife keeps her health throughout this trip, and that Daniela makes a public appearance or an autograph table, so my wife and I can meet her. Wish me luck!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Daniela & Raymond won their doubles match 14-12 in the supertiebreak. They had to save FIVE MPs but they won the match on their first MP.

They play Kops-Jones & Spears next in the second match of the evening session after the Radwanska - Hampton singles match which starts at 7pm.

That match was crazy, even by our standards as Daniela fans. It started with a classical screwing with the schedule, because ESPN had to have Aga's match start at 8:00, such that Dani and Raymond didn't begin until around 10:45. They were down 3-1 in the 1st and then ripped 5 straight for the set. Immediately they lost that momentum, went down 2-0 and never got the break back. My Kindle doesn't work in my wife's friend's house, so I had to use my dear crummy phone, and therefore I was only able to get periodic scores for the tiebreak, learning that they were down 4-6, 8-9 and 11-12. So I knew of 2 MP's saved. Wow, it was really 5!! Funny how some of Daniela's most melodramatic comebacks happen in doubles, where she's out to have fun! The match ended at 12:22 AM. My body was still on New York time, and that's 3:22 AM, guys. And staying up that late is one reason why I am a full fledged Daniela Maniac!

Still looking for word on a public appearance/autograph table.

Let's Go, Daniela!

If Daniela doesn't do an autograph session the best chance of an autograph would be to stake out the practice courts and get one when Daniela's finished her practice session, Alex. You have to pick your spot and be at or near the front of the queue. That would apply to any player.
