Danka takes it in 2...great last couple of games. But a bad match on the whole... Congrats daniela, she seemed pretty happy and pumped (fist pumping every point, kinda waiting for her to scream ADJE, hahaha)

That got a little tense at the end but Daniela came through. She made a great volley to get to her second match point. She made a drop shot that Zheng got to and tried to pass Daniela down the line but Daniela reached down, played a stab volley past Zheng at the net and into the open court for the winner. Daniela had been tense and making a few errors at the end of the second set but she came up with her best when she really needed to, probably because it was an instinctive shot that she just reacted to and didn't have to think about. Great shot.

Zheng saved the first mp with a total mishit that landed on the sideline almost at the net and though Daniela got it back, Zheng had an easy put away. It was one of these things when it just looked like nothing was going to go right for Daniela, so I'm so pleased she was able to serve it out.

Alison Lang did her best to enliven things after Daniela hit a winner down the line at either 3-1 or 4-2 in the second but the line judge called it out even though it looked like it was on the line and when Daniela queried it with Lang, Lang said the line judge was closer. To me and Daniela it looked good but it affected Daniela for a few games afterwards as she made a few more errors. Zheng also dug in and started going for her shots more, so her level went up while Daniela's went down so that tightened the match up.

Daniela started slowly but she played some good stuff from 1-3 in the first to the middle of the second. She got a bit tense but she kept fighting and came through. Both of her wins here have been good wins as she came through tough tests against tricky opponents so that's got to give her confidence and the ranking points are nice as well.
