What's happening on the Eurosport live stream is just bizarre. There are now visuals of the tennis court but you can hear, basketball? Being played in the background. Very odd indeed.

Hopefully Stosur has a shocker so we'll get to see Daniela playing Peng :D

how does this win help her ranking? How much does she need to enter the top20?

What I really liked seeing is that Daniela is hitting really hard again, but with more margin, and she's going for the cross-court shots a lot more, instead of always trying to go down the line. It looks like she's FINALLY finding the middle ground in her game. Those Spanish coaches had almost turned her into a defensive player, which she just is not cut out to be.
I don't know if she'll ever get back into the Top 10, but the Top 20, or even Top 15 should be possible.

I think Daniela will get 200 points for getting to the semi-final and that'll take her above Henin, Zheng and Rezai who weren't playing this week. Daniela had 2085 on Monday so she'll go up to at least 2285 next week. Zvonareva had 2165 points and she's playing her quarter-final tonight.

Well I'm speechless. Not only did she beat Jankovic, but she did it on clay to boot. Dani

The most heartening thing to me was how well she played-there was some really intelligent clay-court tennis from Daniela today. She is also taking the appopriate lessons from her defeats-I felt against Venus if her BH DTL was working, she would have won the match. Today that shot was smoking in a way I haven't seen for a long time.

Idysaha asks where Daniela's fighting spirit is coming from, and the credit has to go to Darren Cahill-Chris Bradnam couldn't stop singing his praises on Eurosport.

Hantuchova after the triumph over Jankovic shine satisfaction. "I'm awfully happy that I made this extremely physically demanding match cope, especially after trojsetovom marathon against Kerber.'s Victory over Deer are very appreciate. Sete First I was a little help, which was connected with the fact that organizers gave us just play the first match. I did not have enough time to regenerate, which invariably resulted. From the second set, but I played aggressively, I pushed it and finally I have celebrated success. Jelena is an experienced player, you can not let you play the game. Even when I played in the third sete 0:2, I did not fall in spirit, because I did not feel that on the court doing some bad things. I was concentrated on every ball, well I had a very rozbehávala I servovala. In a match against a player of absolute world leaders such as Jankovic, Williams sisters or Russian, is bringing in the important moments of utmost importance," said Hantuchova, who gained the psychological advantage before the Fed Cup duels in Belgrade. "I hope that I cut her a little confidence and I helped to do that Belgrade will have more chances. I would be delighted if the outcome of our struggle the same as Charleston, but every match is different. In the semifinals already have nothing to lose and whether it will be my súperkou Stosur or Šuai Peng, trying to win" said Hantuchova.

Dani Upsets JJ at FCC

2010-04-16
Daniela kept on winning at the Family Circle Cup Friday, coming back from a set down to beat Jelena Jankovic and reach the semifinals of the Premier stop.

Things didn't look good as the No.2-seeded Jankovic raced through the first set, 6-1. But Daniela didn't let that affect her at all, building a 5-1 lead in the second set (and eventually winning the set, 6-3) and, after losing the first two games of the third, storming back to win six of the next seven games to take the match, 16 63 63. She really began finding the range on her big groundstrokes in the second and third sets, hitting winners from both wings and forcing numerous errors.

"I'm really glad to be in the semifinals in my first clay court tournament of the season," Daniela said. "I'm very proud how I fought today. It was a very long, tough match. I'm happy how I recovered physically after yesterday's match and found the energy today. It looks like the hard work I did last week has paid off."

Daniela is one match away from her first clay court final on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, but she didn't want to think too far ahead: "It was a great win today, but the tournament is not finished for me. I'm going to give my best tomorrow."

The crowd was so behind me. I'm not sure why. They really, really helped me. I felt like I was playing at home. Thanks to all of you :)

Hantuchova caught fire right from the beginning of the second set with her big groundstrokes and retrieved well as well, running down her Serbian opponent's down-the-lines and getting herself back into the points again and again. She dictated the points right until the end and even hit winners in the final game.

"I knew if I did the right stuff, I had a good chance today. I was very proud of the way I was fighting," Hantuchova said. "The first set was not easy. I felt very tired and tried not to think about it and go for my shots. But if I kept going like that, I figured I was not going to win. So I tried to put a little more on the ball, move her around more and stay aggressive, and that made the difference."

"Unfortunately I just couldn't do it today and she was the better player," Jankovic said. "When I had the opportunities, I lacked a little power, especially off the backhand side. That's my best shot, so I wasn't the player I could be."

Next up is No.4 seed Samantha Stosur, who beat Peng Shuai, 64 61.

"I'm in the semis and I think I've got as good a shot as anyone left in it to win," Stosur said. "Daniela and I have had some good matches in the past. It's going to be a tough battle but if I can keep playing the way I'm playing and maybe improve my service percentage a bit more, I'll have a good chance."

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Samantha Stosur just gave Peng a beasting so she's up next for Daniela. Stosur played well and hit a lot of winners although Peng really didn't play that well. Stosur was comfortably superior and had too much power for Peng. She'll be a tough opponent tomorrow. Hopefully, Daniela's rested and the last two matches haven't taken too much out of her but she's fit and determined and this is a good opportunity for her.

It is really amazing. Like someone said, I feel so good when she hit the ball that hard. It shows her confidence has come to a higher level. And again her fighting spirit showed. I do not ask for something more if you keep playing with this confidence. That is awesome. Keep it up Daniela.

As expected, Daniela will be playing Stosur. Stosur can be a bit up and down at times, going for too much at the wrong times, but she's definitely proven herself on clay in the past. She'll be a tough opponent for Daniela but there are no easy matches the deeper you get into tournaments. Daniela would have to be as confident as she has ever been so i'm definitely expecting a good match.

It's good to see that the schedulers have put her on later in the day. It was ridiculous her being the first game on court after her marathon match against Kerber. I guess the second round walk-over against Morita bears a lot more significance now as she'll be playing a relatively fresh Stosur.

I've had a night to sleep over Daniela's victory and it's definitely got me in a good mood. Daniela has always been fiercely determined to do well, but i've never seen it translate so well into her game. She came back from a lot of adversity yesterday, as she did with her match against Venus - 2 excellent matches against top ten opponents, is just lovely to see as she seemed so far off this time last year.

Hopefully Daniela will feel well rested for her match tomorrow. Stosur is extremely fit and can run a lot of balls down. I'm confident Daniela will give her a run for her money though.

Bring it on!

By the way, i wonder if we'll ever get footage of Daniela's final game where she served it out. It really is a pity that we missed it.
