That's absurd. Anyone east of the Mississippi will have stayed up past midnight to watch so would want to watch another match rather than the match they've just seen. Are Americans that parochial or do American TV executives think Americans are that parochial?

American TV executives think about 2 things only, guys....ratings and $$. That decision doesn't surprise me one bit.

Since Daniela is the only Slovak alive in the tourney, how about her keeping the title in Slovakian hands and succeed Domi? ;)

I've got to admit that that was a hell of a struggle and a hell of a comeback.

Daniela & arantxa would have won a bit more easily but they didn't convert all the BPs they had and they lost a lot of 40 all points, although they won the most important one and came through in both the tiebreaks. Daniela served well throughout the match and her serve kept them in the match. Xu and Gavrilova played very well in the first set and a half but Daniela & Arantxa kept fighting and they produced their best stuff when they really needed to to get the win. This was all about heart, desire and fight and Daniela & Arantxa had it and then some plus a bit more quality when it mattered.

This is by far Daniela's best rally from behind all year! I was at a pizzeria with my wife all the way to 2-5 in the second. The only hope, me thought, was to get out of there and check the score on my phone every 5 minutes instead of every 2-3 as I normally do when the phone is my only option. By the time we arrived home, it was 5-5, and I just knew that if I could get to my Kindle, it would all work out! And it sure did. The final push was Daniela and Arantxa making the last 3 points from down 8-7 in the super tiebreak.

Hoping for more heroics from Daniela tomorrow. Her match is 1st up on Stadium Court at 11:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time. Would really be nice if Dani can beat one of the rising young guns in the WTA. Never give up on the good times!

I like the pairing of Parra Santonja and Daniela, I'm glad they've resumed their partnership. Wonder if Peschke will make an appearance with Daniela at somepoint this US Open Series?

Am glad Daniela is first up on court tomorrow.

3-1 Muguruza, Daniela hasn't won a point on serve so far.
2-3, Daniela gets her 1st hold.
3-3, Daniela breaks to 15.
3-4, Daniela broken.
4-4, Daniela breaks on her 3rd BP.
4-5, Daniela broken she had a GP. She's only 1/12 on 2nd serve.
4-6, Muguruza holds from 15-40, Daniela put a shot into the pen court wide on the 2nd BP.

2nd set:

2-1, Daniela eventually holds after a very long game.
2-2, Muguruza holds.
2-3, Daniela broken, she's 9/12 1st serve points won, 2/9 2nd serve points won.
2-4. Muguruza holds.
2-5, Daniela saves a BP but is broken again. She's getting killed on 2nd serve as Muguruza is putting in a big return and putting Daniela under pressure.
3-5, Daniela saves a MP to break.
4-5, Daniela holds to 30.
4-6, Daniela saved a MP but Muguruza served out to 15.

Muguruza is clearly ripe for the taking. Daniela is causing need for Pepto-Bismol. Fight like crazy, young lady, and get that serve going! She can do this.
Aw, frig. A betrayal of serve again. Daniela showed the usual fight, getting it to 5-4 and saving 2 MP.
It will be much easier to console myself today, for it was one year ago in Carlsbad that Dani partnered with Hingis and signed my shirt with a smile on her face and inside the autograph. She was in such a wonderful, giddy mood that night.

This is disappointing. The difference in the match was second serve, Daniela was 4/25 points won which isn't going to do much against anyone vaguely decent while Muguruza won 38% of her second serve points. The first serve stats were pretty much identical and when rallies started Daniela was at least as good and won some nice points but her second serve was such an achilles heel for her.

Muguruza sounded like an Azarenka cover band out there.

When you've decimated Serena's serve,like Garbine did at the French Open-then Danielas serve is going to appear ripe for the plucking. Stanford courts are so quick that the match is essentially going to boil down to quality of serve.

Out of interest,do we know who was coaching Daniela this week?

Seems like Daniela played well but didn't take advantage of a lot of break points..

Her 2nd serve is always going to be dodgy...needs to find more angle I think.

Felt like Daniela deserved a set today but wasn't to be..

Can't see Daniela winning a tournament this year which would be the first time since 2010...
