I guess Dani will have some time to enjoy Madrid. 3-6 3-6 in doubles....

That or she wants to get to Rome ASAP.

Ah well, a tough weel for Daniela, but she's playing quite well as was no disgrace against Vinci. Rome will have to be better if she wants that RG seed.

Today went much better for Daniela than the last two days. 5 players that could have passed her in the rankings went out today and all of them lost. There are 5 others left. 2 of them play each other, another faces Lisicki, and Peng gets Serena. There is a decent chance that our gal can be at #31 when this week is over. If that happens, a decent week in Rome should cinch a French Open seed. Making things even better today, traitor Hingis got thrashed in doubles, and prima donna Ivanovic was sent out to play at 11:30 PM Madrid time (remember how Dani was forced to start a match after midnight in Thailand last year...good to see that the WTA treated one of their Faces of the Tour the same way tonight).

Updating: After Wednesday's results, Daniela will be #31 unless Caroline Garcia reaches the Madrid final. Unfortunately, that can easily happen. I don't trust any of the seeded players left in Garcia's half as far as I can throw them. With her youth, talent, and on clay I can see Garcia taking a wild ride all the way to the final. How can a true blue Daniela fan expect anything else?

As predicted, Garcia 6-2 4-6 6-3 over that SOB Errani. Now it's up to Aga, and does it need to be said that she can't possibly play as well tomorrow than she did in thrashing Vinci today. Aaaaaaaaaaarrrggghh!

Final update: As predicted (or a blind squirrel found acorns 2 days in a row), Aga was nowhere near her form from yesterday. So we got a nerve wracking 3 setter. Aga missed on a match point at 5-3, but (Phew....thanks, Aga) got it done, so Daniela finally cinches #31. Now it's up to her to gain points in Rome.

Vinci in great form. Gave Caroline a lesson in how to play clay court tennis. Not much consolation, but Daniela did lose to a player finally finding her game.

7 aces for Vinci! The high altitude must help her game...
