A really good fight back in the doubles to come from a set and break down to get the win winning the last six games of the match. Daniela and Dominika's serving got stronger as the match went on and Daniela served a clutch ace to save a BP at 3-3 in the second set and that was probably the most important point of the match. Getting a win in adversity will do a lot for Daniela's confidence, give her some more time on court and more time to build an understanding with Dominika. It's fantastic that Daniela's got a win and hopefully they can have a very good run here.

Great they got through a tough doubles match.

Any news on if she's playing mixed doubles?

Urszula absolutely thrashed Oudin. You can either look at it as Urszula being in great form this week or an opportunity missed by Daniela. If Urszula does really well it'll be a bit easier to take although it'll feel like Eastbourne if she does.

Daniela's Olympic profile has her down for singles and doubles at the Olympics, eddy. Daniela & Dominika are the Slovak women there and Martin Klizan and Lukas Lacko are the men. I didn't see mixed doubles down for any of the Slovak tennis players and Filip Polasek, who Daniela played with at Wimbledon, isn't in the team. Dominika's Olympic photo looks like a police mugshot.

Today's 30 pt. bonus question: If Daniela played a match and no one commented on it, does the result count :?:

King and Petrova are both very good doubles players whereas Daniela and Dominika are a new team and Dominika hasn't played much doubles so the result isn't that shocking although it's still disappointing.

Judging from the score and the stats, King and Petrova bossed the match. The decisive factor was the points won on first serve with King/Petrova at 23/32 but Daniela and Dominika were 15/32.
Petrova had a long match whereas Dominika had the easiest win in the quarter-finals and had the more time to rest, not that it really made much difference. It would be nice if Dominika does better against Petrova tonight.

We know that Daniela and Dominika won't play them in the Olympics and Slovakia can do well in the doubles with a decent draw.

Well done, Dominika!! Anyone notice that the two players that have been Daniela's most frequent doubles partners this year are just rolling? Maybe they can send some of their magic Dani's way for London.

Daniela's always had at least one 1st round exit in the US Open series, so hopefully she's getting it out of the way early. Urszula Radwanska did have a pretty decent run here after all.

One thing that I'm wondering about though is Pistolesi's position. Daniela is coming back from injury so it will take a while for her to really start playing well again. Daniela's also having back and shoulder problems but for a lot of this year her serve has been poor and her service technique used to be so good. Admittedly pain and injury will be a factor in that and Daniela's had no luck with her health lately but I'm wondering what sort of a positive difference he's making. Another thing is that Pistolesi wasn't there at Indian Wells which is one of the biggest and most important tournaments. She was doing well under Passos and Liptak and she got rid of them and her form before she ended these relationships was better than it is now. It's unlikely that Daniela will make a coaching change until after the US Open but I'm starting to think Pistolesi's jacket is hanging on a looser peg these days.
Lucas Lacko gone up about 50 places in the rankings since Liptak starting coaching him.
