Daniela had a BP to go 5-5 in the 2nd set but Wozniak saved it and won the 2nd set 64 .

Never in any doubt ;) .

It was a battling performance by Daniela and she kept fighting especially when she was 2-3 down in the third after being broken and she broke back right away. She probably should have served it out at 5-3 but Wozniak played well on the MP and she saved it rather than Daniela lost it.

She probably should have won in straight sets but she lost serve in game 5 of the second after being 40-0 and Wozniak served well for the rest of the set although Daniela couldn't convert the Bps she had in the last game. It helped that she was serving first in the third set as Wozniak was always under pressure to hold and when she broke she was only a game up rather than two and that was the only time she was ahead. Daniela broke back then held and although Wozniak got back to 5-5 Daniela held and Wozniak was under pressure to hold to take it ti the tiebreak but she cracked. Daniela really exploited Wozniak's second serve in the third set.

It's a good win, should have been more comfortable but she beat the defending champion and it gives her a bit more confidence and also ranking points.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Phew, I knew as soon as the draw was released that this would be a tricky one, one that Daniela could easily have lost but thankfully she has toughed it out and got a big win. Going to be very tough to up her game enough to get past Radwanska but it is someone she has beaten before in the past so hopefully that will hold her in good stead, but personally I dont hold out much hope. Congrats though Daniela for todays win and put in a good performance against Radwanska and I'll be happy.

With this (nice) win , Daniela receives no points at all because her 17th result is 60pts as well .
She needs a win over Radwanska to gain ranking points :)

Daniela plays the second match after 19:00 local time tomorrow. I was hoping she would get a day off after such a long match today, plus Radwanska played her first round match yesterday. No such luck.

0-1 - Quick break for Radwanska who hit a couple of nice winners.
0-2 - Real ugly game for Daniela. She couldn't break despite 2 DFs and some very short second serves from Aga.
0-3 - Errors all over the place from Daniela. Radwanska is too good of a counter-puncher for Daniela to have much of a chance playing like this.
2-3 - Impressive break and sketchy hold from Daniela. When she's serving well and with some kick, she's getting Radwanska back and off balance. But when Aga is able to get moving and into a rhythmn early in the point, Daniela is struggling (2/9 on 2nd serve).
2-4 - Daniela played really well here but could not break. She had three BPs and Radwanska was forced to make a quality shot to win all three. I'm off to bed, here's hoping for the best.
