my boyfriend did something, and now we can't play any video file using windows media player. I think I need to download and install a codec but I don't know which one. Right now I can only hear audio on all my video files, the screen is just black. I remember a long time ago on Matt's forum, somebody recommended me one and it was really good. I don't remember, of course, where the link was to, but I think it might have been a site ending with .sk - but my memory could serve me wrong.
Can anybody help me out? I don't need the exact one I had, but something that can solve my problem.

use the megacodec pack and KLM

Use the one with the lowest number first after you download it.

Watch it for clicking the media player classic, you have to disable that function if you don't like that

You could try VLC, Christina. I find that lets me play files that aren't playing properly with sound and vision.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

yeah that's a good player , Christina prefer MP4 files and VLC is the best player for that
it's also good for putting movies and subtitles together

I know, I have VLC and it plays the files without problems. But I wanted to get windows media player to work because the missing codecs (or whatever it was) caused me to not being able to vreate chapters in NeroVision - well I could vreate but not see where I created the chapters, and I couldn't watch the live streams in wmv format, e.g. I couldn't watch the Olympic matches. I have re-install windows now and I can play files again in windows media player :)
