she is small, no doubt, but why onion? Does everybody start to cry when she's around? Or does she just smell terrible? :?

In Slovakia she is called "Cibula" or "Cibulka" too. Cibula = onion, Cibulka = small/little onion. This nickname I've seen the first time this year on the AO website.

I very much hope for an upset of Dementieva as well. Of all the players in Montreal, I only have two players I really would like to see succeed: Azarenka and Cibulkova.

The little onion that could toppled Dementieva 6-4, 6-2! She benefited from eight double faults, but must have done an awful lot of things well. She now has two top-tier wins this year, Venus and now Elena. Plus, she has also taken Masha, Sveta and Elena to three sets. A bit of mixed emotions for me as I call myself a bit of a Dementieva fan, but way to go Domi!
