She's so lucky in this tournament. But her winning over Medina was pretty much convicing. It's nice to hear a spanish girl is deep in tournament as spanish tennis is really great.

I don't think that its luck .. she won 7-5 , 6-4 in the 1st round against Roberta Vinci , won against Venus Williams the 6st seed in 3 sets , and after that she didn't drop a set in the 2 following matches .. And she plays really well .. I think that we are going to hear a lot about her in the future ;)

I didn't mean lucky because she did not deserve that winnings and just won. This is sport and you really need lot of luck here. I thought rather about the positive side of that word:) I am still impressed by her current form:)

I'm forward to see Dokic - Safina match .. I think that it will be a great match .. Safina needs to win to be nr1 , we shall se if the pressure afects her and Dokic can reach the SF for the 1st time and she won all her matches in 3 sets , maybe she can feel a little tired by now ..

I think Suarez Navarro's Avram Grant's love child.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

I was pulling for Jelena Jankovic this tournament after Daniela was eliminated, but she got crushed by Marion Bartoli!

Bartoli annoyed me (as usual). first she beat lucie, then she put a beat down on jelena, then SHE gets distroyed by zvonareva< that annoyed me because it, well, looks embarrasing for jelena for one, but also like she so inconsistent!

IMO Bartoli played some amazing tennis to beat JJ. JJ was nowhere near good, but Bartoli hit winners from everywhere and it looked to me as if she had studied JJ's weak points and new thus how to take care of the match. A delight to watch IMO. Also her speech afterwards was nice. That match changed my view upon Bartoli. Well right until Zvonareva bageled her. Everything I thought Bartoli had learned, well she hasn't

Travelling back 18 months... I had no idea this had happened...

Black and Huber went on to win the match, and the tournament, so good for them.

I don't think Petrova is well liked on the tour, for various incidents as this one. She mocked Lucie Safarova during the 2007 Paris final, and I think that had quite an impact on the Czech.

So no surprises as Serena won again.

Is it me, or is the WTA tour just full of patterns!?!? I'm sure it's all coincidence, but I can't help but find the following patterns, very interesting:

- Serena wins AO in odd years: 03, 05, 07, 09
- Sharapova wins Indian Wells and Linz in 2006; Daniela wins Indian Wells and Linz in 2007; Ivanovic wins Indian Wells and Linz in 2008
- Daniela wins Indian Wells 5 years after her first win; and gets to another Grand Slam QF 5 years after last reaching it
- Ivanovic's career basically takes off after winning Berlin in 2007, resulting in a French Open final and another slam SF in 2007, and then the AO Final in 2008; Safina's career basically takes off after winning Berlin in 2008, resulting in a French Open final and another slam SF in 2008, and then reaches the AO Final in 2009

I know it's all coincidence, but it's still quite interesting that these patterns have happened. Can anyone add anything else??

Good observations, particularly the Indian Wells - Linz, and Ivanovic and Safina coincidences.
