Anne Keothavong is racing towards a place in the main draw in Stanford she is 6-1 2-0 up on serve and should she reach the 2nd round of the main draw she will achieve her next career goal which is to reach to top 75. For that to happen though, realisticly she will need to be placed with Rodionova, when you consider the other players waiting for qualifiers are Mirza, Peer and Dulko

Georgie has done the same again, lead early in the first set, then lost it. Hopefully though, the same outcome will come from it as well

A step too far for Georgie, De Brito ran away with the 2nd set, but like i said earlier, Georgie can take alot of positives from the two wins shes had this week and hopefully can build on it

It's great to see Keothavong in a tier II main draw, but I agree, her positioning in the draw will be key to whether she can progress further in the tournament. I hope she is drawn against Peer or Rodionova.
As for Stoop, she will move up the rankings through the 10 points gained from being a qualifying finalist, and losing to Larcherde Brito is no embarressment since the teenager is regarded by many as being the 'next big thing'.

Out of the five main draw qualifer/lucky-loser opponants Koethavong has certainly been drawn against the toughest in Mirza (last year's runner-up).
I hope she can put in a good performance and if she can take a set off Mirza then I will be pleased. Hopefully playing Mirza right at the start of the tournament will benefit the Brit and allow her to really test the hard-hitter. I just hope that Sania's power will not be too much for Anne, although Anne's performance against Venus Williams at Wimbledon would suggest she is quite capable of coping with powerful ground strokes.
Marion Bartoli is waiting in round 2 so there is a glimmer of opportunity in Anne's draw in my oppinion.

Anne certainly has got a tough draw, but she already has 3 matches under her belt and hasnt seemed to of broken a sweat so hopefully she can give a good performance against Mirza, maybe even cause a shock. She plays in the night session as well, which im sure will be the first time in Annes career that she has played a night session at an American WTA tour event

Anne is through to round 2!
Defeated Sania Mirza 7-6[4] 6-1. Next up is Marion Bartoli, seeded 6 (this match will be played on Thursday).
A very good win, that gains her 35 ranking points. So far this week Anne has obtained 50 ranking points; lets hope this winning streak continues. :D

Brilliant win for Anne, I thought that she had been given a very tough draw in getting last years runner up but by the sounds of things she done brilliantly. Bartoli is vulnerable but she is inconsistent, so she may play well, but this would be a great chance for Anne to grab a top 20 scalp, and gain even more ranking points to propel her further up the rankings

The match between British number 1 Anne Keothavong and former top-ten player Marion Bartoli is underway.
Bartoli holds her first service game comfortably, but Keothavong struggles, losing her service game to 30.
Marion leads 2-0.
