Woh!!! Laura Robson has just taken the first set 6-1 off Iveta Benesova in the first round in Luxembourg. I hope her inexperience doesnt get to her and she can win the 2nd set and set up a great match up against Anna Chakvetadze, cummon Laura!!!

Couldn't keep the momentum going, probably due to lack of experience at this level. Looks like Benesova just waited it out and eventually got the better of Laura's game. The Brit goes out 6-1 2-6 3-6 in 1hour 22minutes. Still a great effort from the fourteen-year old though, who is such a good prospect for British Tennis. It's just a shame she was born in Australia and that she isn't 100% British because the Aussie's (once she is very famous) will probably try and take credit for her, like the Americans have tried to do with Sharapova.

Third time lucky for Melanie South, after spending the last few weeks in Australia, topping the seedings for all 3 events she finally picks up a trophy after missing out in the final of the last two events she played. It bodes well for next season when she must feel that she can qualify for the Australian Open with the form she has shown here down under. Congratulations Melanie, shame the season is ending soon, but hopefully she can carry this sort of form on next season
