Daniela has to qualify for Beijing. She starts off against Lara Arruabarrena of Spain in the first round. The winner play either fifth seed Christina McHale or Duan Ying-Ying of China to get into the main draw.

Arruabarena's a clay courter and she's had some decent results on clay including two wins over Stosur and she's been doing well in doubles winning Seoul and getting to the US Open doubles quarter-final so she may have a bit of confidence from there. However, Arruabarena's hardcourt form has been terrible as her only top 100 win on hardcourt this year was against no. 45 Rybarikova in Indian Wells and Rybarikova thrashed her in New Haven. Arruabarena's last win was against no. 120 Chirico in Toronto qualifying. Any opponent has to be respected and it's not as if Daniela's in great form but I have to believe that she'll beat Arruabarenna.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Hopeful that Daniela can snap her loss streak at 5. She has not won in 72 calendar days. All Forum members need to pull out all the stops to help her through!

Let's Go, Daniela!

I want her to win in first rd of qualifying as it will give her 20pts. She should win this and making it to the MD will be a bonus. GL Dani!

I really don't know what to say about this. This is stunning and depressing. Arruabarena is so average on hardcourt but she was still able to beat Daniela in straight sets and after this I wonder who Daniela can beat. There's a difference between losing to a good player like Svitolina and a journeywoman like Arruabarena. I know that Daniela will keep going with the Olympics next year but with results like this it's going to be very difficult for her to get to the Olympics. Daniela's strong, resilient and determined but losses like this must be taking a toll on her. Poor Daniela, I want to give her a hug and a shoulder to cry.

Daniela had her chances as she had a set point at 6-5 in the first set and she was also 5-3 up in the tiebreak. She also had game points or break points in the second, third and fourth games of the second set but instead found herself 4-0 down.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

:( :( :(   :| :| :|

So much for finding the autographed pictures. And it would not be productive to get into told you so about Vinci, so I won't.
A song came on the radio today that was of some help. It was Argent's Hold Your Head Up. No matter what has happened these last few months, Daniela can hold her head high with pride about her career and everything else about her. (If you haven't yet, check her revamped web page which explains further work she is supporting with the HIV children in Cambodia. Very inspiring. Got me to send a donation.) All of us, her most diehard fans, can hold our heads up high now and every day. I hope thinking in those terms eases some of the abject frustration recent results has caused. Daniela will soldier on, and we know we will too.

Let's Go, Daniela!

I agree with u, she's great anyway.
But as we can see, the asian trip was never her cup of tea..
And even less in this period of doubts..
Next step: Moscow ?

Daniela will be playing in Luxembourg instead of Moscow.

Arruabarrena beat McHale 13-11 in the third set tiebreak to win after more than three hours on her NINTH MP after saving FIVE. Arruabarrena plays Halep in the first round. We'll find out if Arruabarrena's playing well and has her best week in ages when she's drawn against Daniela or if this was a great chance than Daniela spurned although Arruabarrena will probably be shattered.

This is very unlikely, but just wondering if rather than play in Luxembourg or Moscow, Daniela should play the field for a month or so! Recharge the batteries that way.
