Daniela's got Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round. The winner plays Nara or Errani.

She's still playing doubles with Barbora & they start against Mattek-Sands & Zheng Saisai.

Not great draws for either singles or doubles...with Kuznetsova you never know which Svetlana turns up...let's hope the one who can't be bothered to play...and that Daniela plays a solid match.

Svetlana has a number of good wins this year. This has foregone conclusion so written all over it that……would any of us fall over dead if Daniela suddenly clicks in and wins?

Let's Go, Daniela!

This season has been so depressing. Daniela started the year retiring with a knee injury in February and she's ending it retiring with a knee injury in Beijing. This must be terrible for her, I hope this isn't too serious and she can get back playing again soon although, like you said eddy, she may as well end the season and get healthy for next year.

There is one moment remaining in 2014 that Daniela and all of us can truly look forward to. That moment is 11:59 PM on New Year's Eve. Let her not be in pain for long. 2-3 months off would be a good thing. But would we need smelling salts if she tries to play her doubles match tomorrow? :?

Let's Go, Daniela!

Daniela's doubles match is third on Court 7 after a singles & another doubles match, play starts at 12:30 pm.

Get your smelling salts ready, Alex.

Can we take this as a sign that the injury is minor? Sure hope so. I still would prefer Dani take a few weeks off.

Let's Go, Daniela!

There's no point in playing injured so Daniela's doing the right thing in withdrawing. I wonder how much she's been bothered by her knee this year as she withdrew from Doha with a knee injury and missed Dubai & Acapulco and her form since then has been very modest. She might as well skipping the remaining tournaments - although she'll probably have to - and I don't think she should play the IPTL either, especially if the injury hasn't healed.

Daniela & Barbora were replaced by Barthel & Minella and they won the match.

It's so sad to see this horrible year. I think it has been the worst since I became a fan, not a single encouraging moment or victory this year. I really really hope she finds something in the off-season to keep it going.

It's tough to see Daniela being a bye these days.
