We'll just see how Daniela does here. With one or two exceptions, anyone she plays is going to be a tough opponent and so much will depend on the draw. If she can get a few wins then that would be wonderful. The best thing is that she doesn't have any points to defend here - Daniela hardly has anything to defend until the US Open - so any wins she gets will boost her ranking. It would be great to go into Wimbledon with some momentum.

Daniela's got Vinci in the first round and then either Errani or Qualifier. Jankovic most likely in quarters.

I think a good chance to get revenge from Madrid. I like Daniela's chances on grass against the Italians.

Like I said in the Birmingham thread Daniela must treat this tournament as if it's Wimbledon. As tough as it is this could be a better 1st round draw then Wimbledon so Daniela must go for it. Hopefully Vinci won't play as well as she did against Daniela as she did in Madrid.

Given the field, the draw is reasonable enough. Daniela beat Vinci when they played in Rosmalen in 2009 although Vinci's won the recent meetings. Madrid apart, Vinci hasn't played well this year but so many players seem to have had their best match or tournament of the year whenever they've played Daniela this year.

Daniela just has to go out and give her best effort. Every win she gets here will be good and will gain her points and boost her ranking. It's important that Daniela has confidence, momentum and fitness going into Wimbledon.

Daniela really turned things around here in 2004 when she got to the final beating Mauresmo along the way and she had the great run in 2011 beating Li Na & Venus Williams. A hat trick of great runs would be fantastic.

Lucic retired in her qualifying match so that could explain no doubles this week. Hope Lucic will be ok to team up with Daniela for Wimbledon.

That's probably the reason, eddy. I assumed that Daniela was wanting to have a light schedule this week so she'd be fresher for Wimbledon.

This might stir you guys up: An FB poster said she saw Daniela practicing in Eastbourne along with Jovanovski, and that Dani was being coached by Thomas Hogstedt. Do some Sherlock Holmes work for me on this.

Let's Go, Daniela!

Daniela hitting ball really well. Sorry realised should have posted in pictures thread!

Daniela played a practice set against Jelena and lost 7-9 on a tiebreak. Daniela generally very unhappy how she played. Her forehand was spraying quite a bit and her second serve was weak but lots of great winners. She'll need to be much more consistent tomorrow against Vinci Daniela is now practicing even more drills with Thomas.

I've got to admit I'm a wee bit surprised that Daniela seems to be working with Hogstedt, or rather that she seems to be on her third coach of the year and it's still June.

She's worked with Hogstedt before in February and March 2009 and Daniela had reasonable results with him, getting to the third round in Dubai and the fourth round in Indian Wells and Li Na and Shazza both won Roland Garros under him. If he is Daniela's new coach then I think he's a good one.

I hope you're having a good time in Eastbourne, eddy, and that you see Daniela win all her matches.

Nicely done, Sherlock eddy! I have never been able to watch Daniela practice. Was she unhappy enough at the end that you didn't seek an autograph? Hopefully she's really happy after tomorrow's match!

Let's Go, Daniela!
