Shvedova just beat Jankovic 7-6 in the third, another upset after Oudin beat Dementieva earlier. Puts Toronto in a bit of perspective.
and at the same time Lisicki twisted her left ankle when being matchball down
poor Sabine, this must be very painful, she's still lying on the court :(

That looks really nasty because Sabine fell very awkwardly and was screaming and crying. She's still getting medical attention and she having to go off in a wheelchair. She was still on the ground when Soderling & Granollers came on for their match. Hopefully she's going to be okay and it's not a serious injury.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

I was able to watch live stream of Daniela's singles match last night and I was pleased enough with her performance. She hit a couple of greats drops shots yesterday. I also saw Sabine Lisicki's fall as the match ended and she looked like she was in a LOT of pain so I hope she'll have a full recovery and get back on the court soon.

She was still on court?! That is surely the last thing that Robin or Marcel wanted to see on arrival.
Very unfortunate for Sabine. She certainly has problems when it comes to staying injury free; although this was obviously a freak injury that could potentially happen to any youngster. Hopefully she will be back on court soon. If she's damaged any ligaments then she could be out for the rest of the season.

What a wierd US Open this is turning out to be!

Dementieva losing to Oudin?

Jankovic losing to Shvedova?

Lisicki losing to Rodionova?

Just goes to show how unpredictable the womens game is becoming recently. I mean Daniela's match last night was a good case in point. From *4-5 Bacsinsky just caught fire and played lights out tennis until 2-2 in the second and Daniela did very well to come through in the end.

Incidentally it was good to see "Killer" Cahill in attendance last night. Daniela had a couple of horribly bricked volleys last night, and if anyone can improve her netgame, its him.

King starts to serve...both hold their serve, so 1-1
King was 40-15 up, but Daniela fights and get a bp, so 2-1 for Dani now :)

easy and great game of dani, 3-1

2 easy return faults from dani  , game King 3-2

dani holds service, 4-2 8-)

great shots from dani in this game! 5-2

yuhu, dani finishes the set with her own serve to 6-2 , very cool :P
so i have to go to tennis training now, hope anyone can follow the match! go dani!! you can do it!

5-2 :)
All Daniela has to do is to keep on serving good as King
doesn't seem to have return game.

EDIT : 6-2

Jankovic lost partly due to her grandmother dying

It's just my impression or is Daniela grunting a little louder?

Anyway, Daniela is up 6-2 , 5-2 . She'll serve to win the match :D

EDIT: Daniela won 62 62 in 75minutes hitting 25 winners against 12UE and she had 100% on BP (4/4) and never gave a BP to King.
A very very very good display without a doubt .

I know that Vania is ranked outside the top 100 but after beating Stosur I expected a tougher test but so far this is quite possibly one of the most efficient match I have seen from Daniela. It certainly has been a while since I saw Daniela convert 100% of her break points and have none on her serve, hopefully she can reproduce this consistent play against, presumably, Serena in the round of 16 but whatever happens Daniela has done well this tournament.

what a match. Didn't face any break points, great winners/UEs stats. She hit some amazing winners. I just love those shots of hers

She played really really good . She was consistent on her serve winning 81% of her 1st serves and 56% on the 2nd and she was agressive but not too close to the lines .
I really enjoyed her game and I'm pretty sure that if the next round is against Serena she'll do better than 63 61 like in last match :)

I'm really pleased with Daniela's performance. It's especially good to see her keep her head in the game for the entirety of the match. Very solid showing.

This bodes well for her next round match presumably against Serena. I'll be satisfied if she manages to keep things competitive, but i'm quietly confident that she can do a little bit better than that. I think Daniela did herself justice at Wimbledon against Serena, considering she was ill. She's playing well now, so hopefully it'll show on the score board.
