Top tennis pro’s to play exhibition match at Palmer Coolum Resort
27th November, 2012 By Kim Anderson

Palmer Coolum Resort’s Director of Tennis, Ivan Rusev is looking forward ot hosting an exhibition match between top female professionals Daniela Hantuchova and Jarmila Gajdosova

TENNIS fans can look forward to an early Christmas present this year with Palmer Coolum Resort confirming an exhibition match between top female professionals Daniela Hantuchova and Jarmila Gajdosova will take place at the resort’s Tennis Centre on Saturday 22 December (6.00pm start).
The pair will face off in a friendly hit-out that will also serve as important training for both players with the Brisbane International (30 December 2012 – 6 January 2013) and the Australian Open (14 January 2013 – 27 January 2013) just around the corner.

The match will be Hantuchova’s second outing at Palmer Coolum Resort, which is fast becoming one of the 29-year-old Slovak’s favourite destinations for tournament preparation, particularly as the Tennis Centre’s Show Court surface is made of the same material as the Open’s courts in Melbourne.
Currently ranked at number 32 in the world, Hantuchova was the first Slovak woman to feature in the world’s top five tennis players (in 2003).

A consistent performer over her 13-year professional career, she reached the final of the Brisbane International in 2012 and has won four mixed doubles Grand Slam tournaments.
As an added bonus for local fans, Hantuchova will hold two tennis clinics at the Palmer Coolum Resort Tennis Centre for anyone looking to improve their skills.

On Friday 21 December she will host a one-hour kid’s clinic from 5.30pm ($35 per person) and on Saturday 23 December an adult’s clinic from 10.00am ($50 per person). Bookings are essential and can be made by calling the Palmer Coolum Resort Tennis Centre on (07) 5449 3480.

Hantuchova’s opponent at Palmer Coolum Resort, fellow Slovak Jarmila Gajdosova, now lives in Australia after being granted Australian citizenship three years ago.

The 25-year-old will be keen for a good season and Palmer Coolum Resort’s Director of Tennis, Ivan Rusev, says the exhibition match is a good warm-up for both players.

“Both players will have a lot of tennis coming up so this is really good preparation for them,” Rusev said.
“It’s a great chance for local tennis fans to come along and see just how good professional tennis is – there’s nothing like seeing it live.

“Daniela loves the resort and loves the Sunshine Coast. We’re delighted she’s coming back to see us again,”
he added.

The exhibition match will take place at the centre court of Palmer Coolum Resort’s magnificent Tennis Centre. Entry to the match is $20 for adults, $10 for children and $50 for families (2 adults, 2 children).
Call (07) 5449 3480 to secure your seats and witness top level tennis live on the Sunshine Coast.

Anyone have inside info whether Daniela will go for a three-peat in Pattaya or play in Paris that week? I'm torn on this. Should she not ever have that magical fortnight in any of the majors, a three-peat would go down with her mixed Slam as the true highlights, and unique ones at that, of her career. At the same time, knowing she'll play for her country in Fed Cup, Paris would make much more sense in terms of travel, and it's also a Premier, so a hot week would give her a chance to not lose all kinds of points that week, and if it's an amazing week, actually gain points, which is impossible in Thailand. What do you think?

Let's Go, Daniela!

Definitely to play in Paris, never the strongest field and she can then go to Dubai/Doha without almost collapsing like the last two years.

Right now, that's an excellent question. Anyone have some inside info? Feels like we're in limbo on this. Don't know if Daniela's going to save herself for Fed Cup or what.
