Dodin's into the quarter-final after Fridman retired at 4-1 in the first set.

Remember when I first joined the Forum how I was a flaming optimist and never wanted to see or hear a negative word about Daniela? How I researched and posted numbers about how many wins she has against top 10 players and those who had been #1 at some time in their careers?

Well, I still do numbers. As I type this, Daniela has gone 253 days since her last victory in a main draw (July 21 at Istanbul). It's 276 days since her last main draw straight set win (over Domi at Wimbledon, including a second set bagel). It is very, very painful to do these stats. Believe me, there is nothing more I would like than to dial back these numbers to 0 next week. And I know it's Daniela's choice how much longer she wants to play. But this is way beyond a slump. And it's very small solice, at least to me, to see how far the people who beat her go in that tournament. That's like saying Dani has had the misfortune of running into a hot in form player or someone who was way overdue to win a match 15 straight times (that's how many tourneys it's been since she won a first round main draw match). That couldn't even happen to Joe Btsfpik from Lil. Abner.

Thanks for providing me this place to vent. Be assured that I remain a huge fan of Daniela and will always be proud to say that. All I want now is for our gal to find a way to win 5 more matches to get to 550.

I would say Big Whoop, good for her, I could almost care. But it occurred to me that she's in the Q draw in Katovice, and now she won't be, so Daniela won't have to deal with her again.
