The speed gun was reading some of Daniela's serves in the high 170kmh, like 178kmh. I havent seen Daniela serve that fast since 2005. The speed gun maybe was too nice?

it was a delayed telecast here in the Philippines .. Domi's match started at around 1:30 AM so I have to keep awake for Dani's match..though I knew Dani won from my phone..I was surprise it was televised..I kept waake as much as I can and it was an amazing performance for Dani..doing all the tactics the strokes...Dani really really really needs to play like this for the whole year..

I just hope Domi wins against Makiri so Dani wont play coz I'm afariad against Pavs since she has a bad record against her but with her performance like that she can definitely beat Pavs if she wants..Congrats for this win and hope to see performances like this from Dani more!

Makarova playing instead of Pavlyuchenkova, bizarre but maybe Pavs is injured..

Makarova playing amazing 6-3, a lot of work to do for Daniela

Daniela fights so hard and wins 2nd set 6-4

One set shoot out, comon Daniela!

3-1 Daniela so far INCREDIBLE PLAY

Daniela needs a double break you feel to seal the deal..

3-2 Daniela serving, this is so intense

4-3 Makarova takes medical timeout, ridiculous...she had a tiny fall but this totally looks like trying to get Daniela to lose her momentum. Bad taste IMO

4-4, 4-5 of course Makarova's medical timeout has screwed with Daniela's rhythm, Daniela serving to stay in the match..she's given EVERYTHING in this match,

Makarova cheats and wins 63 46 64

MAKAROVA AND RUSSIA ARE BIG CHEATERS

Daniela had all the momentum and Makarova got MTO 4-3 down, DISGRACEFUL, Makarova had no effects from her slip..

Russia will probably win the tie now, makes me sick.

Daniela was incredible just feel so sorry for her, she gave EVERYTHING.

Eddy, I agree Daniela gave it her all and more. I disagree with you though that blood running down your leg is not worthy of a medical timeout.

Good luck to the Slovakians in the doubles match!!!

The MTO took ages, i expect the Russian Captain kept the trainer there for as long as possible asking questions to make Daniela wait. And they should have waited it out before Makarova's serve, not before Daniela's. The rules are stupid, Daniela had done all the work to get a break and then had to wait 10 mins instead of 2 mins in the change over.

In a sport where it's all about momentum, i'm amazed i dont see players cutting there legs on purpose when they are losing more often.. Tennis rules are ridiculous.

I don't know who Liptak is going to choose for the doubles...I think if Daniela plays and loses this is going to hurt so much.

Kirilenko has done this so often against Daniela,I'm sure the Russians factored it into their strategy. It is one of the reasons I can't stand her.

According to TF an open cut should be taken care of immediately but they waited until Makarova held her service game..and then the long wait at the change over...i'm sick of one rule for each match...

I think this doubles match is going to be very easy for Vesnina/Makarova

Yes she will be knackered especially as Moscow to Marrakech isn't exactly a short flight..

That is such a tough loss for Daniela to have played so well and fought so hard but to get her momentum stopped by what is essentially a tactical timeout is really tough to take.
If I had to make a rule change for tennis I'd make it that you've got the changeover for treatment then you lose a point for every additional 30 seconds treatment after that. It sure as hell would stop tactical timeouts which is what Makarova was doing.
