wow big win , it's about time

6-0 6-2

ok Lisicki was terrible , but at least Daniela stayed focused and didn't start her own error fest

I think both players improved in the second set. Daniela started moving better, she hit a winner on a drop shot, and I really didn't believe she would even get to the drop shot. She played a bit more aggressively in the second set.

A great convincing score line against a player who has had a pretty good year. I am more than satisfied with the performance today.

Next up, Cirstea, don't know what to expect here. Have to read a bit more about her.

She did it. Well done.
When she was broken at the 2-1, I was like: "Oh God please don't let this happen like AO semifinal." and she broke Sabine the next service game. Daniela plays with high confidence today and she plays very clever (from the part I watch from live stream). That is a good sign. If she continues like this, I don't see any reason she cannot reach the SF.

What can you say about this, Daniela got the job done and she was solid but Lisicki was absolutely dreadful. She made so many errors and as long as Daniela got the ball in court Lisicki would invariably make an error. Daniela did what she needed to do but it's difficult to say how well she actually played as Lisicki was so bad.

Still, 6-0 6-2 is still a good win. Daniela finished the job quickly and recovered from the lapse in the second set.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

i remember her from their last meeting in Bali last year in the semi's
she's playing better this season, i saw her vs Kuznetsova and she played a very good first set time ago

and she had wins vs Radwanska and Pennetta this season

Cirstea won in Tashkent a few weeks back, beat Lisicki in a third set tiebreaker.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

I remember Daniela beating her in ... 3 sets I think, but that doesn't say much about her current form.

I'm a bit of a nerd and I have some statistics from the match (11 points I didn't get to see properly, but still it should give a good picture)

winners (incl. aces):
*DH: 8
*SL: 9

EUs (incl. double faults):
*DH: 9
*SL: 24

Forcing the opponent to make an error:
*DH: 17
*SL: 6

Ok Lisicki played bad, but that doesn't to me at the moment. This year Daniela often faced players who didn't play good at all, and she didn't win the match. Today Daniela was able to stay focused and just did the job well. :)

Nicely done Danka. Sorana will be tough,so keep that head screwed on and the UE to a minimum. It would be great to see you win 3 in a row again!

Well I hope she realizes that all these players arent a 'flash in the pan' so to speak. There are real players where she is at. Im glad to hear she is owning the complications, thus far, in this tournament. Id like to see a winner here and there though. And it will come down to this, really playing and not just relying on the other players. Best of luck.

We are all very proud of you!

Interestingly, the last time Daniela played a fair-haired German, her opponent played at a level way, way above her normal level. I'm speaking of Groenefeld at the US Open, of course. I guess today was the karmic opposite as it sounds as if Lisicki played a lousy match. Anyway, we'll take positive reports and wins from Daniela anywhere we can get them. :woohoo:

Sounds like this Lisicki must be a real idiot or something. Like Parmentier wait to the very last point before she started to play.
