"He's the favourite?" Federer asked at a media conference for the invitational Kooyong Classic.

"Good for him. It won't help him a whole lot," the smiling Swiss added.

Murray blatently is the favourite; I think Federer is just sour because he lost to Andy twice in two weeks. I hope Murray wins in Melbourne, and most importantly beats Federer while he is down there.
Grrrr....

It's a real shame because he would almost certainly lose his top-ten position if he missed the Open, and Tsonga is a player that should be in the top-ten throughout the year.
Looks as though injuries could plague the rest of his career, after having missed so much of last season too.

   My God! What an incredible shot from Federer at 3-1, 30 -0. He got lobbed by Seppi, runs back and swerves the ball around Seppi for the pass. One of these shots you don't quite believe you've seen.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

I loved that!! he was so casual on the first over head, and then with the second one he knew the lob was going to stay in so he looked behind him and saw where seppi was and took aim! incredible!

never noticed that he is so hot. Lovely.

Did anyone see Federer vs Safin - the 3rd set tie-break. The foot-fault call on Safin's second serve. What a moment.

It was actually a foot fault though, so the official was only doing his job!
I can understand why Safin got so frustrated though.

yeah, Safin was really angry with the linesman.
But I think one camera angle showed that Safins left foot might have crossed that middle line (or whatever its called).

Anyway, I don't think that it changed that much, Federer was way too strong for Marat today, and even if he had won the 3rd set, Roger would have won the match in the 4th.

Yes, just as he was beginning his service motion his right foot was across the centre line, which is obviously a fault.

What an amazing match between Berdych and Federer. Roger was in trouble but he did manage to win it anyway. He wasn't playing pretty well so Berdych made use of it. Federer was able to turn things, to turn the way he played. Congratulations on winning it Roger!

Will be two very interesting QFs between Roddick and Djokovic and Federer and Del Potro.
I'm not quite sure who will reach the SF at the moment.
After seeing Federer and Djokovic struggeling, IMO everything is possible in that half of the draw.

I watched the whole match. 7th game of the 3rd set was decisive. Berdych served and had 40-15 to go 4-3 up, but couldn't convert and got broken after several deuces. He missed a few easy volleys after excellent lead ups and then also an easy smash, what a bad game for him.
Federer did well, since he was missing a lot in the two opening sets he started to play percentages in the 3rd set probably knowing that Berdych's level of play and footwork would drop, which it did. As a result he hit only 4 UE in that set. After that Berdych was done and never looked like the winner.
