Following up on asj001's thread about the British girls this is just a little thread on the British men (minus Andy Murray). Inspired also by Chris Eatons brilliant run at Wimbledon which I'll discuss later in this thread. Below is the top 5 men in Britian

1. Andy Murray (11)
2. Alex Bogdanovic (242)
3. Jamie Baker (268)
4. Joshua Goodall (272)
5. Alexander Slabinsky (333)

Yes, a great win for Eaton, defeated Boris Pashanski (another Serb) 6-3 7-6[6] 6-4.
Number 25 seed Dmitry Tursunov is up next fo the Brit.
Hopefully it will be a good match that will get the crowds inspired, especially since Tiger Tim is no longer playing, who would always provide five-set marathons.

I must admit, I had never heard of Chris Eaton until the middle of last week when I heard about his run in the qualifiers. This is a guy who hasnt won back to back wins all year and hes already won 7 matches on the spin at wimbledon this year just to reach the 2nd round if the main draw!!

In all fairness Pashanski didnt look like he wanted to be there yesterday and the crowd, on a smallish outside court was imense in their support of Eaton. Now I dont know if this is just the type of girls that live in this country or maybe im just picking on someone who actually knows Chris quite well but when he won, the amount of girls i saw that looked like they were going to cry was quite funny. He won comfortably in 3 sets, save your crying for if he beats Tursunov tomorrow (which is on court 1, 3rd match on btw)

Tursunov will be a massive test and I hope that Chris goes out onto court 1, enjoys being on the 2nd biggest court there and shows the british public what he is all about. This run that he has had has the same sort of feeling as when Andy Murray first appeared at Wimbledon, lets hope this has the same outcome

It was a good effort from Eaton, from what I saw (as Daniela was on at the same time) his tactic of serve and volleying on every point only got him so far and if he was to have a chance he had to of won the first set, i said that at the time, he didnt and like many other underdogs this years (Keothavong and Cavaday vs Venus spring to mind) he went out quite comfortably. He certainly has the tools to be a good player in the future, but for now back to the futures circuit and hopefully he can build on this experience, improve in some areas and come back next year to challenge again at wimbledon
