US Open Final : Roger Federer df Andy Murray 6-2 7-5 6-2

Semi's @ Aus Open
Final @ Roland Garros
Final @ Wimbledon
winner @ US Open

not bad for a player were people said off that he's finished, not worth to be top 10 anymore and that he wasn't hungry anymore.
Not sure if i have to laugh with their comments or being mad cause off the lack of respect to his performance

What he showed this year at slams is what every other player dreams off , only for Federer it looks like a bad season cause off all the things he already showed

I have the feeling he will pick up his level from the previous years next season

Federer is just the supreme player and at times he was just astonishingly good. The only man to win two different slams five consecutive times.

It says a lot about his strength of character that he was able to come back from some very tough defeats this year and also to raise his game when it mattered most in this tournament, specifically when he fought through against Andreev and also to play so well in the semi and final.

By Federer's standards it was a bad year with only one slam, but by anyone else's standards it would be a great year and he was sick at the Australian Open and the Wimbledon final was a truly epic contest where he was only denied by an genuinely incredible performance by Nadal, who has been so good this year.

Murray was outclassed today, but he still played well and had a great tournament and he'll be a contender for a long time with the talent he has.

Just because his record isn't 90-4 people have been writing him off. I am very glad that he won the last slam of the year. Hopefully he will end the year with more titles and beating Nadal a couple of times. :D
Did you watch the Olympics Doubles Final. He looked so different there. So confident. I think the confidence will come in singles soon because of this US Open win. Had he beaten Nadal in the final it would have been an even bigger confidence boost but beating Murray is very good too.

Do you think Federer will be back at the number 1 spot next year?

Federer was just too good last night and Murray just didnt have the answers. Murray has had a fantastic week, and it now genuinely in and amongst the top players in the game.

I may be going out on a limb here but I think we should say that there is a big 4 now at the top of the mens game

Answereing a few peoples questions on here, I saw the Olympics Doubles Final and it didnt look like the Roger Federer of old, his intensity and his confidence was like something I have never seen from Roger, every point he was jumping around, shouting cummon, fist pumping, and he showed signs of that in this tournament where his will to and determination to win is being shown more than ever.

Winning the US Open would give him that confidence boost that he would of needed. There is no denying that his confidence would of been knocked after the thrashing he took at the hands of Nadal in Paris and losing his Wimbledon crown as well as losing to lower ranked players when back in the day Federer with one arm would of beaten them. That is the sign of how great this man was and still is that he can reach the final of 3 slams and the semi final in another, and still have a bad season. It is a joke what the media say about him but at the end of the day the name Federer is synonymous with perfection because that is what we have been treated too over the years.

This is Federer mark 2, and I have a sneaky feeling that winning the open has lit a fire in his belly to regain his world number 1 ranking, maybe even by the end of this calender year

ATP Tour - Davydenko cleared in betting probe
Eurosport - Fri, 12 Sep 14:02:00 2008
The ATP, the governing body of men's tennis, has found no evidence of betting violations by anyone involved in a controversial match between Nikolay Davydenko and Martin Vassallo Arguello last year.

The Association of Tennis Professionals started an investigation after British online company Betfair reported irregular betting patterns during the match in Sopot, Poland on August 2, 2007.
"ATP can confirm today that it has concluded its investigation and found no evidence of a violation of its rules by either Mr Arguello or Mr Davydenko or anyone else associated with the match," a statement said on Friday.

didn't realize Federer was that far behind Nadal. And Djokovic is also far behind. Does anybody know if it is possible for Federer to end the year as number 1?

I don't think so. Roger has more points to defend then Rafa. And the gap is quite big at the moment.
