Wasn't albe to be online for the last days. So all in all a great Olympic tennis tournament for me personally.

IMO Rafa won the Gold medal deservedly. I just the final against Gonzalez. That was really a great match at high level.

So congrats to Rafa - he really deserves the number 1 spot at the moment.

I was expecting James Blake to be at the final roaring "Vamos Rafa", waving a Spanish flag and booing Gonzo considering how acrimonious his semi-final loss to Gonzo was, or rather how upset he was that he lost that point when he hit the ball straight at Gonzo, it went long but clipped Gonzo's racquet on the way but it wasn't called, so Blake lost the point and eventually the match.

Nadal is playing awfully well at the moment, because in the past couple of years his form's dipped after Wimbledon but this year he's sustaining his level. He's actually the first Olympic tennis champion to be ranked in the top five when he won it and it's quite amazing the spread in talent between Olympic champions as Agassi and Nadal are great players, Mecir and Kafelnikov are very good players while winning the Olympics was the the career highlight for Rosset and Massu.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

yes Rafa is in great form, and I think he'll win the US Open as well. I don't see anybody beating him. Had he won the Australian Open in January he would have had a Golden Slam. Talk about the right time to peak.

Rafa is now officially the new number one.. kinda strange, but deserved, no doubt.
that's the first time since I've been a tennis fan that there is not Roger on top of the ranking.

btw: I like this banner on the ATP website:

What on earth has gotten into Del Potro, 4 tournaments, 4 titles. Amazing achievement for any player to do such a thing, surely he cant carry that sort of form on into the US Open can he?

Yeah Del Potro is in a really great form at the moment. He wins title on clay and on hardcourt. Just amazing. And also this week, maybe the 5th title?

That will be really strange also for me at the US Open. Roger will be seeded 2nd and Rafa 1st. Can't imagine that by now.

Del Potro has withdrawn from New Haven with fatigue. I think its gotta be the most justified withdrawel from a tournament in months!
Hopefully he will be fully fit for the US Open.

Also the draw for men at US Open is out. Good draws for Nadal and Federer I think.
Quite tough quarter for Djokovic.

If you want the better player to be in the semi's then that would be Murray. ;)
