It's sad what's happened to Vaidisova, really hope she'll find some sort of form.

I'm sure that must have been a tough loss for Nicole yesterday, but that certainly isn't her worst defeat of late. She was defeated in the first round of qualifying at The Bank of the West Classic by Amercan wildcard Stacey Tan 6-2 6-1 (a player ranked 532 in the world, making this her worst defeat of the year so far), and is barely able to win a match on tour.
Vaidisova has a 9-14 win-loss record for 2009, with six of those losses to players ranked outside the world's top-100 at the time.
She's still just 20 years of age though, and doesn't turn 21 until April of next year, so who knows what might happen over the next couple of years. At the moment though, it doesn't look good.

Special treat for anyone who likes seeing Tatiana Golovin in a bikini, with added Nasri and the Cisses:

Could a more informed observer than I am please tell me what's happened to Domi? To lose like that to Peng is unacceptable for a player of her talent. :wall:

There is a thread () on this site, so maybe someone will air their views on there! My guess would be that she is struggling to cope with the additional expectation and pressure since reaching the Roland Garros semi-finals. Since that achievement she has won four matches and lost six, and is actually now on a four-match losing streak , quite shocking for someone of her ability.

I'm not sure who's had the more agonising losses this summer between Dementieva and Roddick.

Kim Clijsters  8-) She's doing awfully well on her comeback, just beat Azarenka 7-5 4-6 6-1 in a really good match.

I'm pleased for Clijsters. Maybe with Justine off the scene she can really shine and get some of her best career results during her second stint on tour. On her day she is definately better than many of the current top-ten players, so I'm expecting some good results from her next year (if she decides to carry on playing). At the moment she is sticking to the original plan and ending the year after playing the three big North American events, and then reviewing the situation in time for 2010. After the results she has had so far on her return I can't see her throwing the towel in again. I'd say its very likely that she'll be playing a full, or near-full schedule, next year.

Australian Alicia Molik will return to the WTA Tour next week in New Haven where she will compete in the doubles competition. She has also requested a wildcard into the US Open singles championships. All eight wildcard spots have now been filled though so I assume Molik will try and get a wildcard into the qualifying competition.

US Open wildcards:
1. Kim Clijsters [BEL] - former champion
2. Alexa Glatch [USA] - US Fed Cup player
3. Vania King [USA] - US Fed Cup player
4. Gail Brodsky [USA]
5. Mallory Cecil [USA] - NCAA champion
6. Christina McHale [USA]
7. Kristina Mladenovic [FRA] - FFT choice
8. Olivia Rogowska [AUS] - Tennis Australia choice

I think Kim also has entered China Open.

On her day she is definately better than many of the current top-ten players,

well many of the current top 10 players are also better than Kim when they have their A-game on. IMO Vika is going through some problems which led to the loss to Clijsters. I've seen many Azarenka matches, and something about her body language is off. When she won Brisbane and Miami this year - and won the first set against Serena at the Aus Open, she was positive which led to few errors and patience. In the 3 matches she has lost during the US Open hard court swing, she's been crying, looking frustrated. IMO the Azarenka Kim beat is not the same Azarenka that made it to the top10 earlier this year.

Wouaw, since swimsuit photoshoot, she has become a little bit more fatty, don't you think so? :D

Sugiyama will retire:

I was quite sad when I found out as Ai was a top player, especially in doubles, and she's such a good partner and friend to Daniela. I'll remember the good times and all the wins they had together.

Hopefully Ai's very happy after her tennis career.
