Katie O'Brien is into the qualifying draw for the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open, a Tier III stop on the WTA Tour. She faces number 3 seed Yuan Meng in round 1:
1R - Yuan Meng[3] 6-2 6-2
2R - Andreja Klepac[5][Alt]

Britain's number 1 Anne Keothavong has gained direct entry into the tournament, facing a wildcard in round 1 with a good chance of moving into the round of 16 to face Paszek or Cetkovska:
1R - Lilia Osterloh[WC] 7-6[3] 4-6 6-4
2R - Petra Cetkovska
QF - Nadia Petrova[2]
SF - Maria Kirilenko[3]
F - Amelie Mauresmo[5]

Keothavong is also in the doubles main draw, partnering Romanian Monica Niculescu. They face the number 2 seeds in the opening round:
1R - Maria Kirilenko/Nadia Petrova[2] 6-0 3-6 10-4
QF - Andreja Klepac/Aiko Nakamura

Just wanna give a mention to the British Juniors who were runners up in the Girls singles last week losing out in the deciding rubber against the USA. Laura Robson carried on her momentum from winning junior wimbledon to drop only one set and looking comfortable in all of her singles victories, especially so in the final where she smashed the American no'1 junior 1 and 1.

Congratulations girls on a great week

Britain's number 1 and number 5 players have entered the qualifying draw for New Haven, a Tier II tournament on the WTA Tour.
Keothavong, seeded eight, faces a wildcard in round 1, with the possibility of playing her doubles partner in Cincinnati in the final round of qualifying here in New Haven:
1R - Maria Fernanda Alves[WC] 6-2 6-0
2R - Ekaterina Bychkova 6-1 7-5
3R - Monica Niculescu[3]

Naomi Cavaday faces an alternate in round 1 with Camille Pin potentially waiting in round 2:

Not a very good week for Naomi, two qualy events and two defeats, hopefully the other girls bidding to compete at the US open will do better
