I had to go to bed after 1st quarter and was rather worried that the Spurs might lose again, which would have meant end of the series for sure. This win should give them some confidence.

And the Spurs are finished this season. I heard there was some controversy at the end, can someone clarify?

Brent Barry, who had a hell of a game, missed a three at the buzzer that would have won the game. He was, by the letter of the law, fouled by Derek Fisher on the shot. Even the Spurs did not dispute the call as they felt "it was not a call made in the playoffs." I've never bought that argument as it's an enormous slippery slope once you justify deviating from the rulebook as things become very cloudy.

The NBA actually issued a statement today stating that Barry was fouled and should have received two shots (the foul was just before he began to shoot the three, I guess). Lots of good it does the Spurs now.
On the positive side, the Celtics won a heck of a game earlier tonight. :)

someone in the NBA must hate the spurs, why say that, it just rubs salt in for their fans, as a lakers fan i feel we are very lucky that game didnt go to overtime, it was an obvious foul and i'm amazed the officials missed it
unlucky for San Antonio, although i feel the lakers had a number of bad calls go against them throughout the game so perhaps it evened its self out in the end

Celtics up 1-0 in the finals..
fairly close game though the Lakers led for a lot of the first half
should be an interesting series this one!
