Lots of problems for Poland, after every chairman and official from the Polish FA got fired the Fifa wants that they hire them again before monday or they will be banned from the road to WC 2010 and lose with 3-0 from their next two opponets Czechia and Slovakia

Theres been a lot of worry recently over the 2012 European Championships and wether Poland and the Ukraine are going to be able to host it and have the stadiums required in 4 years time. Stuff like this is certainly not going to help and with International week coming next week I hope they get this sorted

There is no infrastructure in Ukraine, roads are horrible, hotels too. The same with eastern Poland, which looks just like Ukraine. And there is not enough time for improvement imo.

If thats the case then I really this that UEFA and FIFA need to re think their selection policy when it comes to major tournaments. A lot has been said about whether South Africa will be able to host the World Cup in 2 years time, and now all these question marks hang over the Poland/Ukraine European Championships. I suppose the bright light for them both is to look at the Olympic Games in Greece, when everyone thought they were never going to be ready in time, and alas, they were and hosted an impressive games

i think it's ridiculous to organise such a big events in country's like South Africa,Poland or Ukraine

They choose Poland/Ukraine above Italy, they already have the stadiums

They should have given the World Cup 2010 to Spain or England

Those other country's have no football culture.

I Initially felt it was a good idea to gave Euro 2012 to Poland and Ukraine as it would be the first major tournament in eastern Europe, it would boost the game in eastern Europe and both countries had a good tradition with the strong Polish teams of the 70s and 80s and the great Dynamo Kiev sides under Lobanovsky and also Ukrainians had made huge contributions to the Soviet national team. However, although construction of the stadiums are going well in Ukraine, it's going badly in Poland and the necessary infrastructure improvements aren't being made and there are the political problems with the Polish FA. Things don't look like they'll be sorted any time soon and a decision on whether the tournament can go ahead in Poland/Ukraine will have to be made soon.

Football is the most popular sport in South Africa, a lot of stadiums are in place with new ones being built and the transport infrastructure is fine. The big concern about South Africa is the level of crime as it is a violent place.

Brazil has one of the most vibrant and glorious football traditions but they have a lot of problems as many of the stadiums are antiquated and need extensive upgrading, the infrastructure is poor and there is a lot of crime and violence. They still have six years to prepare for the World Cup, but right now, I wouldn't be optimistic about the tournament being a success.

Neither the USA or Japan had much of a football tradition prior to hosting the World Cup, but both hosted good tournaments and being host provided a huge boost to football's popularity in those countries, helping to grow the game globally. Football's not massively popular in Austria or Switzerland but Euro 08 was one of the best tournaments, at least on the field.

I forgot to mention that story, it happened in the previous week,
i think it was last Friday. Switzerland’s coach, Ottmar Hitzfeld,
invited Roger Federer (!) to the national team’s training camp
in order to talk to the Swiss national players and help them
get over the embarassing defeat by Luxembourg (1-2 at home)
a few weeks ago. According to the Swiss players, Roger told them
how important it is to overcome bad situations and that he also
had a bad year ( considering his standards, of course ! ) but he
made his return at the US Open. It seems that he inspired the team
as Switzerland beat Latvia 2-1 the next day. It was not a convincing
victory though, as Latvia played with 10 players at the second half.
Well, tomorrow v Greece away from home, seems to me as a real test...

Belgium - Spain 1-2 :(
They deserved at least a point and got ripped off by the referee , that second goal was never offside from Fellaini

Slovakia - Poland 2-1
i checked the results ten minutes before the end when it was 0-1 and i thought it was over Qualification chances for Slovakia
But two goals in a minute and they are still in the running for the first two spots

Here's how South America looks after 10 games (out of 18) played. The top four qualify directly and the fifth place goes to a playoff with North America's fourth place finisher.

Paraguay - 23 pts.
Brazil - 17 pts.
Argentina - 16 pts.
Chile - 16 pts.
Uruguay - 13 pts.
Ecuador - 12 pts.
Colombia - 11 pts.
Venezuela - 10 pts.
Bolivia - 9 pts.
Peru - 7 pts.

The results in Europe and South America show the difference that a coach makes to a team. England were terrible under McClaren but they're winning under Capello. Domenech's still got his job with France, but as the alternative was apparently Gerard Houllier, perhaps it's just as well. Deschamps or Blanc would surely be better.

Argentina and Brazil will surely qualify but they are lumbering along. Argentina got off to a great start but they've only won one game in the past year in qualifying and were totally outplayed by Chile. With the players Argentina have they should be doing so much better. I think Batista might be stepping up from the Olympic team soon. Brazil do well away when they can counterattack, but when they're at home and have to take the initiative against an organised defence, they just can't score or even create chances or sustain pressure. Dunga picked Ronaldinho for the Olympics to get him fit, but now Ronaldinho's fit and playing well for AC Milan, Dunga didn't pick him for the last round of games. I think because Brazil struggled in qualifying for 1994 & 2002 and won, they're trying to do the same here and Argentina are copying them as qualifying easily for 2002 & 2006 didn't do them much good in the finals.
